Fleming Initiative

At World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) in Doha, I discussed the devastating impact that a year and a half of war has had on Sudan. The needs of the population are massive and remain largely unmet due to the limited access to humanitarian space for NGOs and humanitarian workers. The situation in the country is critical, yet with limited attention. In Khartoum, 80% of health facilities aren't functioning. Provision of, and access to, services such as healthcare is under threat. During 20 years of activity in Sudan, EMERGENCY has built its credibility through the quality of its work. EMERGENCY’s reputation as a reliable and neutral actor has allowed our staff to ensure continuity of care even during the conflict, despite significant challenges. Thanks to our 400 colleagues in Sudan, we continue to provide the best possible care. This is the most important message we can send: not to leave the Sudanese people alone at this time. It is crucial to call for a political process towards a permanent ceasefire and a humanitarian actors protection. The WHO Youth Council participated at the WISH Youth Forum and the #WISH7 , organized by the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) , a Qatar Foundation initiative, in Doha, Qatar. This impactful gathering brought together 13 of our council members from across the globe alongside students from Qatar to tackle some of today’s most pressing global health issues. Today, at the closing ceremony of the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) 7, distinguished leaders came together to explore #transformative strategies for tackling the #global #burden of #cardiovascular #diseases (CVDs). In his remarks, Professor Jassim MS AlSuwaidi , Chief of Scientific, Academic, and Faculty Affairs at Hamad Medical Corporation , emphasized Qatar's innovative approach to proactive healthcare and early disease detection. He emphasized that with over 80% of the population connected through one integrated #electronic #health #records (EHRs) managed by HMC and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), Qatar’s healthcare system is well-equipped to track those who are at high risk of developing #CVD . Through integrated EHRs spanning public and private sectors, Qatar is building a robust, data-driven system for the early identification of health risks linked to genetic and lifestyle factors. Looking ahead, Professor Jassim MS AlSuwaidi shared Qatar's vision of expanding collaborations with leaders, including Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al Thani, Director of Public Health at the Ministry of Public Health - Qatar , as well as experts from Novartis and the World Heart Federation . With cutting-edge #AI -driven technologies and initiatives led by the Qatar Precision Health Institute such as #whole #genome #sequencing . #Qatar is advancing its capacity to identify #polygenic risks and enable more precise #disease #prevention .
