Going green with Thailand's food industry 🟢

SP Group has partnered with Pattani Food Industries Co., Ltd to deploy a rooftop solar project at its factory in Southern Thailand. This collaboration aims to meet 20 per cent of the factory’s energy needs and contribute to Thailand's low-carbon transition.

This week, we welcomed Sichuan Vice-Governor Zuo Yingxiang and Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng to SP Group's district cooling plant at Marina Bay - the world's largest underground district cooling network. 

Hosted by SP’s Group CEO Stanley Huang, the delegation saw how chilled water is distributed across the network to cool buildings in the area. With more integrated solutions in the pipeline, SP remains committed to invest and deploy sustainable, low-carbon projects in Sichuan, focusing on district cooling and heating, as well as solar power generation to support China's sustainable development goals.

The Sichuan delegation was in Singapore for the 24th Singapore-Sichuan Trade and Investment Committee Meeting.

The future of energy must be sustainable, and public-private partnerships are key to implementing solutions at scale. At the 24th Singapore-Sichuan Trade and Investment Committee (SSTIC) Meeting yesterday, SP Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Wuhou Government to explore opportunities to provide energy retrofitting for district cooling and heating, and energy storage for the Wisdom Valley Integrated Energy Project. Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng and Sichuan Vice-Governor Zuo Yongxiang witnessed the signing, that reinforces SP's longstanding ties with Sichuan Province.

Group CEO Stanley Huang of SP said, “Our latest MOU builds upon our ongoing collaboration with the Wuhou district government to shape a smart and sustainable district. With the strong support of our local partners, we look forward to exploring future green energy opportunities in Sichuan.”  

Our projects in Sichuan include an upcoming district cooling and heating system for Chengdu's new International Sports Park City in 2025, and the city's first district cooling microgrid project at the International Urban Design Centre, operational since October 2022.

Over 100 members from the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) attended a seminar jointly organised with SP Digital, to learn about adopting a holistic approach to make buildings more sustainable, improve their asset value while optimising energy cost, enhancing occupant comfort and reducing carbon emissions.

Speakers from SP Group and our digital arm, SP Digital, shared smart utilities management including granular monitoring, analyses of utilities consumption across a portfolio of premises, as well as EV charging installations. They presented insights on enhancing ESG reporting and tracking of carbon footprint.

Guest speaker, Ke-Vin Lim, Head, Group Innovation from City Developments Limited shared their own sustainability journey and how microclimatic control for different spaces within a building is one of the ways to mitigate challenges.

We look forward to creating more sustainability dialogues to support decarbonisation in the built environment.

Food is a cornerstone of Thai culture, economy, and community. But with increased consumption comes greater environmental impact. The food industry contributes a whopping 26% of Thailand's annual greenhouse gas emissions.
SP Group is driving change by partnering with key players in the food and beverage industry, such as Malee Group. Through solar power initiatives like Malee's, we're not only reducing carbon emissions but also paving the way for a more sustainable Thailand. These efforts are poised to help Malee reduce carbon emissions by 700 tons annually, while optimising energy consumption and cutting costs.

⚡ Joining forces to expand EV network ⚡

Electric vehicle (EV) drivers can look forward to more charging options at Singapore Land Group Limited properties as we strengthened our partnership with one of Singapore's leading real estate developers. Four new charging points were rolled out at Singapore Land Tower in July, while four more will be installed at West Mall by the end of the year. This is a 25 per cent increase in the number of charging points at SingLand’s properties, bringing the total to 38.

From Tampines Plaza 1 & 2 to Marina Square, EV users can now find a charging spot at SingLand properties across the island, offering convenience and peace of mind as they embrace green mobility. With more locations added to our extensive charging network, SP aims to drive Singapore's sustainability efforts and shape a low-carbon future.
