Stripe Enables Merchants to Accept Stablecoin Payments for Online Transactions

Stripe has enabled its merchants to accept stablecoin payments, specifically the Circle-issued USDC, for online transactions. This feature allows customers from over 70 countries to make purchases, expanding Stripe's payment capabilities and potentially lowering costs for internet businesses.

Businesses around the world are increasingly connected to global partners and customers, and open money like #USDC can help them execute cross-border B2B payments faster and more efficiently. 

The FSB found that globally, businesses pay fees of between 1.5% and 2.9% per transaction to send money across borders. By using blockchain technology to send value directly between digital wallets instead of via multiple intermediaries, digital dollars like USDC can reduce friction in cross-border transactions as well as costs for businesses. 

Many global organizations also look to international freelance workers or contractors for their business needs, but a Zero Hash survey found that nearly half of workers said they usually had to wait three days or more to receive cross-border payouts.
