Pleased to share that after nearly 15 years of self employment, involving a mix of consulting and startups, academic teaching and research I have been invited to join the Magdrive team at their Harwell site. Magdrive are developing a particularly novel approach to high power electric propulsion (think: high thrust, AND high Isp - simultaneously - without breaking the laws of thermodynamics), and our ambition is to enable future space missions requiring both high DeltaV and rapid manoeuvrability. We should see our small team double in size over the next year, develop a major new facility for environmental testing of space and propulsion equipment, launch multiple prototypes into space in 2025, and start scaling the technology to unprecedented power levels, compatible with advanced space power sources. I'll be building a team around the 'SuperMagdrive' project funded under UK Space Agency #NSIP , and working to build a customer base for larger spacecraft propulsion in the #ESA and North American space communities.
