The company offers trucks for long-haulage, construction, mining, and distribution purposes under the Volvo, UD Trucks, Renault Trucks, Mack, Eicher, Arquus, cellcentric, and Dongfeng Trucks brands; and city and intercity buses, coaches, and bus chassis, as well as associated transport systems under the Prevost and Nova Bus brands. It also provides construction equipment, including excavators, articulated and rigid haulers, wheel loaders, road construction machines, pavers, and compactors under the brand names of Volvo, and SDLG Trucks. Further, it provides financing, insurance, rental, spare parts, repair, preventive maintenance, service agreement, and assistance services. The company offers its products and services through a network of dealerships and workshops. It has a strategic alliance with Isuzu Motors within commercial vehicles; a partnership with Samsung SDI Co to develop battery packs for its trucks; and an agreement with NVIDIA and Aurora to develop autonomous trucks. AB Volvo (publ) was incorporated in 1915 and is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Meet Aime Vesmes, Product Finance Engineer at Volvo Group and one of the participants in our Engineering Graduate Program. As part of the program, she is currently on a short-term assignment in Greensboro, North Carolina. 
 
“The best thing about being here is seeing the cultural differences between the two offices. And since I am still quite new, I can bridge the different ways of working, taking the best practices from Gothenburg and Greensboro and combining them. It is really rewarding.” 
 
In addition to having a senior colleague as a mentor, Aime also benefits from the community with the other Engineering Graduate Program members. 
 
“Having a strong support network has been essential. The graduate program connects us with others in similar situations around the world, and it provides a space to ask those 'silly' questions. I also have an amazing mentor, a senior female engineer, who I've known since my internship. “I've always wanted to work on the so-called good side – to use my skills and experience to make a difference, solve problems and help others. I’ve also always been interested in tech, so cybersecurity was the natural choice for me.  
 
My journey started in the financial sector, and I have been with Volvo now for over six months. My team’s responsibility is to ensure that different stakeholders across the group are compliant but also having effective security controls in place to safeguard sensitive data. 
 
Being a woman in the tech field means that I have witnessed a couple of “boys clubs” where I haven’t felt included. But I have always decided to do my own thing.  
 
Diversity is essential – our field of work is not different. Many research throughout the years shows that teams with a high level of diversity, meaning e.g., people with different backgrounds, gender and life experiences, simply generate better ideas and solutions. Having role models has an impact on how the future generation of women perceive the cybersecurity field. If they cannot relate, they don’t see it as something they’d like to pursue. 
 
That’s why I'm committed to creating a supportive community where everyone feels like they can thrive. I’m of the founders of the Women in Cybersecurity initiative here at Volvo Group, a global initiative and a community focusing specifically on cybersecurity. Our journey begins from Sweden on International Women’s Day on 8 March, with an aim to grow a global community of women! We welcome all, but the activities are mainly targeted at women.
