Loupe is an engineering organization serving machine builders by providing control systems and developing software for automated equipment.

We live and breathe automation. With comprehensive backgrounds in mechatronics, our expertise extends from electrical and mechanical engineering to control theory, kinematics, and software development. Our academic and industry experience makes us extremely effective at machine development, and problem solving - and having fun in the process.

We work best with OEM machine builders, systems integrators and end users of automated machinery and robotics that are open to change and looking for higher efficiency or performance in their control systems. Most machine builders we engage with are dealing with a world that isn’t as simple as it used to be and are feeling squeezed either through commoditization on the low end or quickly advancing technology from global competitors.

When you step into the Loupe workshop, three things are almost guaranteed to happen.

- We'll give you a bunch of swag
- Someone will ask you if you want to drive a robot
- You'll notice that this robot controller looks suspiciously like a game controller

Flying robots using intuitive controls is one of our favorite flavors of tech magic. As the gulf narrows between where the robot goes and where you want it to go, you can start to feel like the machine is an extension of you.

So in our latest intuitive controls experiment, Shane Reetz, Karl Robrock and Ryan Jones taught our ABB Robotics GoFa to do a V60 pourover coffee. They taught a path with HTC VIVE controllers, played it back, and refined it in Unreal Engine's curve editor. The coffee was reportedly decent, and even drinkable.
