NeoCarbon reverses climate change by dramatically cutting costs of Direct Air Capture leveraging cooling towers around Europe. By retrofitting existing infrastructure without impacting their original function, the time and cost needed to set up a carbon capturing system is improved by up to 10x.

NeoCarbon was formed in Berlin in 2021 by René Haas and Silvain Toromanoff, two engineers passionate about ClimateTech, and is backed by Venture Capital fund Antler.

Decarbonizing the #chemicalindustry will require extraordinary actions. One measure, according to Roland Berger's latest publication, is #carboncapture. 

The chemicals and #refiningindustry, represent the majority of emissions in the industrials sector. And differing regional carbon policies and regulatory approaches will have significant impacts on the global competitiveness of chemical companies – necessitating chemical producers to make emissions reduction a strategic priority.

Did you know that by leveraging low-degree (20-200°C) #wasteheat, we have the potential to remove 1.3 gigaton of CO2 per year? 

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), we need to remove a minimum of 6 gigaton of CO2 annually to tackle climate change effectively. Harnessing waste heat from industrial processes is a promising way to maximize the potential for #carbonremoval and turn industrial waste heat into a valuable resource.

Many industries generate significant amounts of waste heat as a by-product of their operations. Some of the key sectors include

- #Cement production
- #Chemical manufacturing 
- Iron and #steel production
- Pulp and paper manufacturing

By implementing waste heat recovery systems, such as retrofitting new Direct Air Capture (#DAC) technologies, industries can effectively capture CO2 from ambient air. This approach allows companies to use their waste heat to power DAC systems.

Ursula van der Leyen has been re-elected president of the European Commission. What does her re-election mean for #cleantech companies? The most important thing is that the president wants to continue to strengthen the cleantech industry.

The commission will continue to pursue the objectives set out in the European #GreenDeal. The targets will be complemented by proposing an Industrial Decarbonisation Accelerator Act to help energy-intensive sectors make the transition. 

Von der Leyen also reaffirms the proposed 2040 climate target to be enshrined in the European Climate Law. #CCS and #CDR technologies are essential to meet this target and will therefore remain high on the Commission's agenda. This will be complemented by planned investments in transport infrastructure for captured CO2.

The commission intends to further stimulate industry and the economy while meeting the decarbonisation targets, thereby helping green technologies to become a competitive and resilient business model. This will be done by leveraging private and public investment, supporting research and streamlining processes. The Commission's Strategic Agenda will therefore pave the way for further innovation in the cleantech sector, including #carboncapture and storage technologies.

NeoCarbon has officially joined the DACStorE project! The goal of the #DACStorE initiative is to enhance #DirectAirCapture (#DAC) scalability in Germany.

By partnering with leading experts from six Helmholtz-Centers and TU Berlin, the project investigates promising technology pathways for #CO2capture from ambient air and storage in geological formations to reach the 2-degree climate target.  

The DACStorE Transformation Hub is helping, among other things, to
* build public understanding of this technology,
* understand the risks and chances inherent in this technology,
* gain an overview of possible and required technological developments,
* define a framework to foster socially, ecologically, and economically
sustainable business case(s),
* establish contacts with other stakeholders interested in the field of DAC.

This strategic #collaboration represents a significant step in our mission to help transition to a carbon-negative world. It will enable us to take advantage of cutting-edge research and implement the sustainable market ramp-up of DAC technologies in Germany.
