Congratulations to Ei Nandar Win (Dora) and Kyaw Myo Zaw (Jimmy), Culinary Arts and Design students from the School of Humanities and Tourism Management, for advancing to the final 11 teams in the MasterChef for Social Night competition! Out of 34 competing teams, they earned an honorable mention award and certificate. This competition, organized by Staybridge Suites Bangkok Sukhumvit Hotel as part of the IHG Giving for Good project, challenged students to create three signature dishes for The Social Night event: two main courses and one dessert, using accessible and affordable ingredients. Their creative menus included Ruby Red Seared Duck, Lemoncello Fagottini, and Sunburst Citrus Cheesecake, showcasing international influences while focusing on simplicity and social gathering-friendly dishes. Through months of preparation and overcoming challenges, Dora and Jimmy demonstrated exceptional culinary creativity and teamwork. Students from the School of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (Bangkok University International) have continued the PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter's mission to preserve marine ecosystems. Through hands-on activities and knowledge sharing, they won the PATA Award of Excellence 2024, making Bangkok University the only institution in the Asia-Pacific to receive this honor. The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is a non-profit organization that promotes tourism in the Asia-Pacific region, aiming for sustainable growth across the region. PATA has partnered with BU International to establish the PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter, providing students with the opportunity to participate in driving responsible tourism and creating positive change. The driving force behind the establishment and advisor of the group is Aj. Karnchana Phakpo, head of the International Tourism Management Program (International Program). The group was founded in 2022 and continues its operations to this day. In 2024, Aj. Karnchana received the PATA Face of the Future Special Recognition for Strategic Management from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), in recognition of her foundational work and strategic development of the program. Another major event, "Fast Forward YOUR Career in Tourism Thought Leadership & Panel Discussion," was organized by the PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter and students from the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) course. The event attracted over 900 attendees, including both Thai and international students from countries such as India, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The event featured tourism and hospitality industry experts in panel discussions, with representatives from the PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter presenting the group's nearly one-year activities as a voice for the new generation in raising awareness of important ocean-related issues. Introducing the AI Engineering & Entrepreneurship program, a joint degree between the Faculty of Engineering at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) and the Bangkok University School of Entrepreneurship and Management (BUSEM). This program is designed to cultivate a new generation of engineers who are not only capable of building and managing businesses but are also skilled in creating innovations with an entrepreneurial mindset.
