We're thrilled to announce Lyndsay Duthie is returning to UCA in a new role - Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic Partnerships and Industry Engagement. Prof. Duthie, currently CEO of The Production Guild of Great Britain , was previously UCA's Head of School of Film, Media and Performing Arts (2018 to 2020). She now has a fresh challenge, helping the University forge wider industry links and helping students prepare for a creative career. Prof Duthie has more than 25 years of experience in the media industry, across higher education, television, and broadcasting, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience. UCA’s President & Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jane Roscoe, said: “I am delighted to welcome back Prof. Duthie, where we know her expertise and experience will prove vital in making this new role a big success.” Prof. Duthie, added: “I am incredibly excited to be returning to UCA in this new role, which represents a fantastic blend of what I’ve done in my career – higher education and the creative industries. This December is your opportunity to have your say in the vision for the Creative Industries in the Surrey and Central South region. A strategic initiative of the The Surrey+ Project – developed by THE FIFTH SECTOR LIMITED in collaboration with UCA and Surrey County Council – is to accelerate the development of a Surrey+ Creative Corridor and its recognition as a nationally and globally significant hub for creative technology innovation and economic growth. We’re proud to celebrate our partner venture, Farnham Repair Cafe, which has received the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, recognising its volunteers and impact on the local community. The equivalent to an MBE, this is the highest award given to local voluntary groups in the UK. Congratulations to its founder and Director of UCA’s Centre for Sustainable Design, Martin Charter FRSA , who said: “Our volunteers are the heart and soul of this initiative. We're also announcing Professor Anastasios Maragiannis who will join UCA as Pro Vice-Chancellor for Creative Education. Prof. Maragiannis, currently Associate Head of College for Design, Creative and Digital Industries and Professor of Inclusive Design at the University of Westminster , comes to UCA with extensive experience in art and design higher education, as an international researcher, and fostering inclusive learning environments. Prof. Maragiannis said: "This is the first university I have worked for that specialises solely in creative industries, something that resonates with me as a fellow creative and designer.
