The flat roof at this local primary school had reached the end of its serviceable life, causing internal water ingress into classrooms and teaching space.💧 #AEC were able to secure essential #CIF funding to replace the deteriorated roof coverings, with a new bituminous waterproofing system. Taking you through the before, during and completion stages of the swimming pool refurbishment at The Basildon Lower Academy. From the project's initial stages to the final touches, witness this impressive renovation. 🏊♂️ 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟭 – 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 ⬅️ After 60 years of use, the pool had to close due to the failure of heating, water circulation and ventilation services. AEC were engaged to undertake a technical review and feasibility study, to determine the essential works required to bring the pool to a compliant and safe condition, for continued teaching and extracurricular lettings. 🏊♂️ 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟮 – 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 ⬅️ Here you can see the plant room in its original condition, featuring the aged pumps and filters. The image also shows the old hand-wash and shower area with tiled splashback. 🏊♂️ 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟯 – 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 ➡️ To meet current regulations and teaching pool guidance, the depth and gradient was adjusted. The swimming pool pump, filtering and circulation mechanics were completely replaced. The internal fabric of the pool was altered to remove the aged skimmer troughs, and the building was re-finished and insulated to assist with heat loss and ventilation. 🏊♂️ 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟰 – 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 ➡️ The new ventilation system was strategically located within a redundant room, with ducting hung aesthetically through the centre of the pool ceiling. The pump and filter plant room were completely refurbished. The enormous and aged cast-iron sand filters even had to be cut down in situ to be removed safely. 🏊♂️ 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟱 – 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ✅ New fresh tiling to the pool, surround, and perimeter walls created an aesthetic, safe and functional finish. Printed PVC cladding created a dramatic back drop to the facility, providing colour and movement to the walls. CIF new build progress update 🏗️ Ongoing construction works at this £2.4m new build scheme in Harrow continues to progress well and to schedule. ✅ The latest updates include. · New aluminium window and doors. · New power and data sockets with dado trunking in classrooms. · New suspended ceiling grid with associated fire-stopping works. · New video room and gallery near completion. · New AC units and LED lights installed throughout. · New lift installation awaiting final commissioning. · First fix fire alarm to all areas. The new block replaced a dilapidated, temporary structure and will comprise of eight classrooms, inclusive of a video production suite, offices, kitchenette, and WC facilities.
