🇱🇧 How did a Lebanese guy and up running a biotech startup in Manchester, UK? 

Mohammad El Hajj, CEO of Bright Biotech explains that it wasn’t the famous music or football scene that initially drew him to the Northern powerhouse. 🐝

“I came here in 2011 specifically to join the lab of Anil Day, who is one of the fathers of chloroplast biotechnology,” he recalls.

🌱 Reflecting on our Journey of Mutual Trust with Lite&Fog

We follow the development of our community startups very closely, especially my colleagues Marianna Egressy and Melinda Varga.
They drew my attention to the development of a member: Lite&Fog, which has truly stood out in recent weeks, achieving milestone after milestone. Reflecting on their progress, I can’t help but look back on the journey we’ve shared.

Many people don’t know that Martin Peter and Uwe Peter were the first customers at our Marzahn Campus, even before we were fully ready to open the campus. They believed in our vision of a high-tech innovation campus where startups and #Mittelstand could collaborate to bring ideas to life faster and more cost-effectively.

Their trust in us has been incredibly encouraging. It wasn’t just them believing in us; their faith inspired us to believe in them even more. This mutual trust led to Lite&Fog becoming the first investment we made through MotionLab.Ventures. I’m grateful to Tayla Sheldrake, our Managing Director at MotionLab.Ventures, for recognizing the potential of Lite&Fog. It’s a testament to what can be achieved when dedicated individuals, a supportive community, and a shared vision for innovation come together.

Lite&Fog’s technology is making a tangible difference in agriculture by significantly reducing its environmental footprint. Their innovative approach to sustainable farming not only helps decrease carbon emissions but also provides farmers with a competitive edge by improving efficiency and reducing costs.

👉 Bright Biotech Partnership: They installed their first Lab-Model S at Bright Biotech, which is leading the way in growth factor expression through #molecularfarming. With Lite&Fog’s fogponic technology, they will now be able to produce over 4 kg of plants per month under the cleanest conditions.

👉 Collaboration with Hassad Food and Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council: After successful trials, Lite&Fog has announced cooperation that marks a new chapter for vertical farming in the MEA region. Their äfogponic technology will help “green the desert” by establishing a viable way to grow food in Qatar. This partnership aims to bring autonomy and self-reliance to Qatari agriculture through energy-efficient and water-saving methods.

Their recent achievements highlight just how impactful their work is and why we’re so proud to support them.
