I am really interested in creating communities at Stylist with deep and meaningful connection. We have an amazing audience that trust what we do so regular, intimate conversation (like you can have with email) is really important to those who come to Stylist to be part of something bigger.

As our audience grows it’s important to connect in different ways, that’s why we now have email communities our careers, entertainment and now parenting.

Like all things we do, this is content about our readers, so don’t expect tips on potty training or weaning here. Instead it’s more of an exploration on identify and the impact on YOU when you have a young family, as well as a space to find a few tips and ideas to make it that little bit easier.

Our news brands champion, entertain and bring together our communities. Last night, colleagues from across our titles joined their peers in Glasgow to celebrate the talent, achievements and successes across the industry at the 45th Scottish Press Awards. 

The Courier team won Campaign of the Year for their sustained investigation into the Eljamel scandal and were runners up in the categories for Front Page of the Year and Best Coverage of a Live Event for the excellent local reporting of Storm Babet. The Courier’s Schools and Families feature writer, Cheryl Peebles, was also awarded Specialist Reporter of the Year.

Four of the five journalists nominated for Regional Journalist of the Year, Justin Bowie, Alistair Clark, Bryan Rutherford and Dale Haslam are DC Thomson journalists, underlining our commitment to local communities and the importance and impact of local journalism. After being runner up last year, The Press and Journal's Impact Reporter, Dale Haslam is this year’s winner, recognised for his work on the Arlene Fraser murder case, which included a six-part podcast series released last year, and the investigation into the Stonehaven rail crash.

The Nicola Barry Award celebrates the best of female journalism from across Scotland and Marion Scott, Chief Reporter at The Sunday Post completed a very special hat-trick, winning this award for the third successive year. 

Chair of Judges, Richard Neville, former Head of News Brands at DC Thomson also paid tribute to our colleague Chris Ferguson at the ceremony. Chris, who spent 40 years in journalism, most recently as The Courier’s obituary writer, passed away recently and is missed by all in our newsrooms. 

In a time of accelerating change, communities need a champion, and a voice. We are incredibly proud of our teams for their continued commitment to our communities and congratulate all of our nominees, runners up and award winners.

We had two reasons to celebrate at the ACE - Association of Circulation Executives Newspaper and Magazine Awards. Beano Studios are the winners of the Magazine Newsstand Campaign of The Year. To celebrate Beano's 85th anniversary in July 2023, the team developed a summer-long campaign focussed on a special birthday edition of the comic. The comic was crammed full of kids’ favourite celebrities and a special wraparound cover featuring the likes of The King & Queen, Harry Styles and Ant & Dec.  And the NMA for Newsstand Magazine of The Year (Children’s) was awarded to Puzzler Media Ltd for their Kids' Collection, a magazine designed especially for children as a great introduction to the joy of puzzles.
