Delta g is a quantum technology and gravity gradiometry company on a mission to make gravity sensing technology as ubiquitous as GPS, radar and telecoms. Spinning out from the University of Birmingham in 2023, our technology is the world’s first quantum technology based gravity gradient capability to successfully detect buried features from their gravity profile alone.

Gravity sensors have the potential to impact much of todays world for the better; reducing traffic jams by eliminating unnecessary roadworks, a reliable navigation alternative to GPS and improving the environment through better monitoring and models.

Limitations in current technology have prevented gravity sensing from reaching its disruptive potential. Our solution harnesses the quantum nature of atoms to produce a gravity gradient capability that is inherently immune to many of the noise sources hindering current technology. Enabling measurements in previously impossible environments at a fraction of the cost.

A world-class team of experts from science, engineering, and business, supported by end-users from civil engineering, infrastructure, defence, and rail, Delta g will realise our vision of creating the Google Maps of the underground.

Delta g's partners at the University of Birmingham have recently taken to the high seas for news tests of the Gravity Imager device. Some of the core enabling technologies in this device are under exclusive licence to Delta g so we're always excited to see just how well they can perform, even in fairly extreme conditions.

An exciting day today as Delta g welcomed a new member to the team. We're pleased to announce that Benjamin Adams has joined us as Senior Engineer. We've worked with Ben previously and his expertise in high bandwidth atom interferometry will be an invaluable addition to the team.

It's been one week since Delta g attended our first Innovate UK KTN Quantum Showcase after we span out of the UK Quantum Technology Hub Sensors and Timing. It was an incredible experience, after only 4 months of operation we attracted the likes of BAES, Hyundai, Thales and AWE. Our founders Andrew Lamb and Pete Stirling enjoyed hours of discussion about our plan to realise precision gravity gradiometry for customers across sectors.

The showcase is always the event of the year for UK Quantum. Bringing together technology developers, academics and stakeholders from around the country, with everybody looking to see where the next big breakthrough will come. We're already looking forward to an even bigger event next year.

Delta g CEO and Co-Founder Pete Stirling was invited to the Quantum Investment Breakfast today at 10 Downing Street. This was a great engagement for stakeholders in quantum from government, industry and investment. We're looking forward to seeing more events like this fostering strong engagement between the sectors.

In August two of our founders (Andrew Lamb and Jonathan Winch) assisted in a University of Birmingham validation trial of #quantumsensing on a maritime platform.

Together with physicists and engineers from the UK Quantum Technology Hub Sensors and Timing, Delta g transported the #quantumsensor to the University of Newcastle's Princess Royal Research Vessel. From there the device, (with a previous world leading demonstration published in Springer Nature Group, https://lnkd.in/ea8-yDsW) spent more than 24 hours on the boat in strapdown configuration.

It's exciting how easily the device achieved #atominterferometry come rain or shine. This validation highlights the device's potential for undersea monitoring and as a navigation alternative for #gps.

We're excited to share the announcement that Delta g is a winning applicant in the Quantum Catalyst Fund from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and Innovate UK. This project is a significant step towards our QT gravity gradiometer reaching its potential of "saving billions in environmental monitoring and on large-scale construction projects."

Delta g is eager to start the next phase of our technology roadmap, alongside partners STL Tech and NKT Photonics. Commercial QT gravity gradiometer will revolutionise how we all view the world beneath our feet; winning this grant accelerates Delta g towards achieving this vision.

Last week the Delta g team received some fantastic news, we had been named by UKTN as one of their "Spinouts to watch". Specifically highlighting our technology's ability to detect small changes in gravitational fields to visuals the Earth's subsurface, it's exciting to see people realising the potential of #quantumtechnology to solve real world problems.
