Good luck to Frances ! She is taking part in the GROW for Good Challenge in Kenya with a team of women leaders from the food industry. GROW stands for Growing Resilience and Opportunities for Women. Cycling 75km through Embu County, she'll be camping at three women-run farms participating in Farm Africa’s Regenerative Agriculture Project. Lending a helping hand on each farm and connecting with the community, she will be learning the challenges these resilient women face. At the end of the challenge, she'll be participating in a roundtable discussion in Nairobi focused with female industry leaders to develop actions on how to improve opportunities for women in the global food system. Today is World Mental Health Day Here at Finsbury Food Group, we take Mental Health seriously. We have a Health and Wellbeing steering team where one of the key focus is to develop support and awareness campaigns on this throughout the year. It’s a great time today to spotlight the importance of prioritising mental health in the workplace. 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem each year and we have an amazing team of mental health first aiders who are trained to listen (without judgement) to help with anything that they come across. Everyone at Finsbury has access to our Employee Assistance Programme provided by Health Assured and to GroceryAid These are free and confidential support service which are available 24/7. The service covers many things including financial information, legal information, stress and anxiety, housing concerns, family issues and relationships and medical information. It also includes access to free telephone counselling. We've offered great stress reduction tips last week to our workforce as part of Healthy Heart Week camapign. Practice deep breathing exercises: 🌬️ Try the 4-7-8 technique: Inhale for 4 counts, hold for 7, exhale for 8. Do this for 5 minutes daily. Try free meditation apps or videos: 🧘♂️ Apps like Insight Timer offer free guided meditations. Start with just 5 minutes a day. Spend time in nature: 🌲 Regular visits to local parks or green spaces can lower stress hormones and blood pressure. Progressive muscle relaxation: 💪 Tense and then relax each muscle group, starting from toes and moving up. This can be done during breaks or before bed. Establish a worry time: 🕰️ Set aside 15 minutes daily to address worries, then try to let them go outside this time. Connect with others: 👫 Build a support network with coworkers, friends, or family. Talking about stress can help manage it. Practice gratitude: 🙏 End each day by noting three things you're grateful for, which can improve mental well-being. The most important thing is to talk to other people, make connections and share your worries, we all have them! World Food Safety Day Last week across our business we celebrated and raised awareness of food safety. This year's theme was allergens, what they are and how we control them. Each and everyone of us across the business have a duty of care to ensure that we are producing our brilliant products safely each and every day within Finsbury and we take real pride in the effort that is put in across the business continually to ensure that we deliver on this commitment.
