The October NSBC photo competition results are in, and it's been another great month! 🎉 This month saw a fantastic array of large-scale projects showcasing the pre-applied membranes of the HydroBond System. Waterproofing a failed podium deck at a property in Nottingham with Damptec, using Fixa Yapı Kimyasalları Polymera MS membrane and Newton HydroCoat 912-RT for reinforcement. 💪 Newton HydroCoat 912-RT is a specialist reinforcement tape for liquid membranes. Used for strengthening cracks, joints, and directional changes, the tape was applied around the edges of the podium deck to ensure long-lasting protection. 🌧️ FIXA Polymera MS - A single-component, semi-fluid, ready to use coating and waterproofing material, suitable for horizontal and vertical surfaces, and for covering cracks up to 5mm. HydroCoat 107 Elastic 2K - a robust cementitious coating for the waterproofing and protection of concrete and masonry structures 💪 The tough, flexible tanking membrane carries third-party Kiwa BDA Agrément certification, and is ideal for large projects as it can be spray-applied as well as hand-applied. When the world-renowned The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) announced that Grafton Architects were to design their next next major project, The Marshall Building at 44 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, Newton Specialist Contractor Cast Contracting Ltd (CCL) were appointed to design, supply and install a completely dry and guaranteed waterproofing solution. The project in Central London would feature an extensive two-storey basement to house plant areas, squash courts, changing facilities and a sports hall, and therefore needed to be completely dry. In their design, CCL selected the Newton CDM System, otherwise known as Type C waterproofing, as the safest and most reliable form of waterproofing for providing Grade 3 protection from water. Overall, over 2,250m2 of Newton 520 eco Floor membrane and over 570m2 of Newton 508 membrane was installed to the floors and walls to create the CDM System. CCL were praised on their quality and speed of installation, and also recycled 115kg of HDPE waste through the unique Newton Recycling Service. Introducing a complete, one-coat, pre-bagged, waterproof render and screed system - Newton HydroCoat 1. Comprising of two products, HydroCoat 1 Render and HydroCoat 1 Screed 2K, the system provides a fully waterproof coating to walls and floors, defined as Type A waterproofing by BS 8102:2022 ✅ 1️⃣ HydroCoat 1 Render is a single-component, pre-bagged material, which mixes with clean water to give a mortar that can be easily trowel applied in just one coat at a range of thicknesses. Applicable to both vertical and overhead surfaces, a 10mm thick coating resists up to 7 bar of positive or negative water pressure. 2️⃣ HydroCoat 1 Screed 2K is a rapid-setting, two-part epoxy and polymer modified cementitious screed for levelling and waterproofing concrete substrates. The screed is flowable to enable an easy application by pouring or pumping, with a thickness range from 3mm to 60mm. Suitable for both new and existing structures, the HydroCoat 1 System is designed to stop water ingress to basement structures and to prevent leaks from water retaining structures.
