The health impact is now well proven, and a scalable centre-of-excellence model has been established which makes a significant impact upon family lives, demand for NHS services and costs, GP services and referrals, etc.  

As a charity which is now financially self-sufficient, the intention is to expand this centre model into Northamptonshire and beyond, replicating this many times over within chosen geographic areas – creating clusters of centres which deliver a community health impact whilst being financially self-sufficient.

Today is World COPD Day! 🫁 Many of our members live with COPD and our team recognises the impact this can have on individuals and those around them. At The Reach for Health Centre, we hold a Pulmonary Class which specialises in lung and breathing related conditions and we’re so pleased with the progress of those attending already. An external practitioner, Elaine, runs a COPD class out of our Multi-Function Room, specialising solely in COPD. Whilst exercise rehabilitation can be monotonous at times, our team are always thinking of new and fun ideas to keep our one-to-one sessions more engaging and enjoyable! Here you can see Sophie incorporating a fun game into Chris’ session, blindly choosing between two exercise options as they progress through the session. The exercises in this session were focused on building Chris’ strength, functional mobility and reaction time, but presented in a more engaging way. Today, October 29th 2024 is World Stroke Day! Many of our members here at The Reach for Health Centre live with the effects of having a stroke and we recognise the impact it can have on them and the people around them. Our team works closely together to provide the best possible treatment for our stroke members, to keep them in good health and live everyday life as normally as possible. The Reach for Health Centre has a strong partnership with The University of Northampton students from the MSc Physiotherapy and BSc Sport Rehabilitation and Conditioning courses often come to us for a work placement. Here they shadow our team and learn more about our practise to widen their knowledge and improve as individual practitioners. Once they’re comfortable, they begin to lead sessions with our members. In this video, you can see Zoe, a student from the BSc Sport Rehabilitation and Conditioning course working with Mary, one of our members. Mary lives with Osteoporosis in her lumbar spine, with slight Scoliosis. Here you can see Zoe guiding Mary through the different ranges of motion of the lumbar spine to keep it mobile and flexible. After, they’re working on Mary’s leg strength and reaction time with our leg press and Blaze Pods ( BlazePod (UK and Ireland) to assist in Mary’s healthy ageing and prevention of falls. Today is World Mental Health Day! 💚 Our mental health is equally as important as any other aspect of our health. It contributes to our whole well-being and deserves our time and attention. At The Reach for Health Centre, we are passionate about creating a safe, enjoyable and inspiring community for all. This includes looking out for our members mental health, we have some different support groups running at the Centre to help in this regard: 1. Your ‘Reach Beyond’ Peer Support Group runs on one Thursday per month, 6-7pm. Dates to be confirmed each month. 2. Sol Haven ‘Ploughing the Mind’ Every Tuesday 14:30-16:30. 3. Coffee and Craft Every Tuesday 12:00-14:00. If you would like further information on any of our groups, check our social media pages or take a look at our noticeboard in the Centre’s cafe. We are here for you!

Today, the 29th of September 2024, is World Heart Day. At The Reach for Health Centre, we recognise the importance of your heart health. On average, the heart beats 100,000 times per day and around 35 million times per year, making it so important to keep our hearts healthy. As a team, we are making efforts to support those with hypertension and those living with or having suffered from a cardiac condition. One of our Rehabilitation Practitioners, Vintonie, has a background in cardiac rehabilitation.
