People up and down the country are facing huge challenges with a cost-of-living crisis fuelled by rising energy bills, higher food prices and record inflation. At this time, we know it’s harder than ever for our customers to stay comfortable at home, so we're continually working with our trusted partners to support households with energy advice and make sure everyone stays safe and warm all year round. Last week we brought some of our partners together to attend carbon monoxide (CO) awareness sessions. During the events, which we hosted with Changeworks and Glasgow Elim Church, partners learned how to identify CO risks in people’s homes during a cost-of-living crisis, and heard about further support available from local organisations such as Age Scotland and Home Energy Scotland , to help those struggling to use energy safely, efficiently, and affordably. Our Innovation team had a fantastic time at the Energy Innovation Summit in Liverpool this week, connecting with industry leaders and raising awareness of our innovation projects. Innes Maciver , Niyati Dave (Ph.D) and Tom Jackson EngTech MIGEM (pictured), showcased: Fairer Warmth Hub – Supporting vulnerable customers in a fair net-zero journey, presented by Niyati. Predictive Safety Interventions – AI-driven safety in the field, highlighted by Tom. Velocity design with hydrogen – Important research confirming the limits for the speed of hydrogen through pipes, shared by Innes. Thanks to our dedicated project partners, Centre for Energy Equality , FYLD , and DNV , for helping us drive these essential projects forward. We’ve welcomed 18 #apprentices and engineering #graduates this month as they start their careers with us. They join an already strong programme as part of which we now have 40 Scottish apprentices in learning. We’re continuing our successful academic #partnership with Fife College to support the delivery of the apprenticeship, along with the invaluable learning and support our depot colleagues provide.
