New research from Apellis reveals that half of UK adults expect to experience some form of sight loss in the next 10 years. Yet, more than one in four aren’t getting regular eye tests. In the survey of over 2,000 people, 53% anticipated sight loss in the coming decade, a figure rising to 59% among those over 50. Despite these concerns, many people still underestimate the scale of sight loss in the UK. Half of those surveyed believe it affects a million or fewer, yet in reality, the true figure is twice that. This disconnect in perception may also explain why 34% of people would wait over a month before seeking medical help for sight issues.
