We manage, co-ordinate and facilitate a large range of services on behalf of our residents and visitors.

Council headquarters are located at the County Buildings in Wellington Square, Ayr. County Buildings was built in 1931 and opened by King George VI.

The area includes the towns of Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Maybole and Girvan. A large rural area of 422 square miles (1,222 square km) extends from Troon and Symington in the north to Ballantrae and Loch Ryan in the south.

Jet Pitts confirmed as STEM display for 2024 airshow! ✈️

Richard Goodwin and his Jet Pitts aerobatic display aircraft will appear at the International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 September ⭐

Watch out for when Richard pulls the propeller powered biplane up into a vertical hold and the two jet engines keep the aircraft from falling to the ground! When this happens, the whole aircraft will keep spinning in the air due to the still rotating propeller 🎉

Design development is currently ongoing for a mixed use 'care village' development, consisting of: demolition works; existing building alterations, new-build elements, car parking, servicing and access arrangements; hard and soft landscaping, public realm; and other associated works and infrastructure.

Further public consultation will take place as the proposals move through the design and planning stages.

The consultation will close on Friday 26 July.

If you want to continue to have your brown bin emptied, then you must purchase a garden waste permit. The cost for a permit is £50 per brown bin, per year.

Please note it can take 24 hours for our in-cab information system to update, so bear this in mind if you plan to purchase a permit before your scheduled brown bin collection.
