On National Engineering Day, meet some of the experts in our Radiation Engineering team! They look after some of the multimillion-pound, state-of-the-art equipment in our hospitals, like this Halcyon machine in our Kent Oncology Centre at Maidstone Hospital. Created by Senior Radiation Engineer, Mohamed Madani , this video shows some of the team (which includes specialists in electronics, mechanics and biomedical engineering) working on the machine, which provides life-saving radiotherapy treatment for cancer patients. Working outside core treatment hours, they dismantled and stripped down the machine, replacing vital fibre optic cables to ensure the system can continue providing safe and accurate treatment.
