Star Award: Danielle Crampton 🌟 Danielle went above and beyond for a patient with no fixed abode who was upset about his lack of clean clothes. He felt his dirty clothes were bothering other patients, which worried him. The next night, Danielle brought him fresh, clean clothes, which made him incredibly happy. He immediately showered and changed into them, expressing immense gratitude for her kindness. Danielle’s thoughtful gesture not only improved his comfort but also boosted his self-esteem. Thank you, Danielle, for consistently going the extra mile and providing such compassionate care for our patients.

Scarborough Hospital’s new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre opens next soon! In the run-up to the big day, we'll be introducing some of the people you might meet if you pay us a visit 🏥 Chloe Mason is a Senior Sister who will be working in the UECC. Chloe has been preparing her 50 plus staff for the transfer process from the former emergency department into the impressive £47 million facility. Her clinical team, made up of nurses and healthcare workers, are “looking forward and are tremendously excited” to work in the award-winning build. The new UECC will see 10 new staff start in her unit, with several new registered nurses beginning their NHS careers in the new build. “It’s a big change, it’s a huge building, so we are all getting used to the layout. It’s like a new house move, there’s lots to think of. As the opening gets closer, I am working hard to ensure patients are moved over safely, along with medication and equipment. All the staff are looking forward to treating patients and welcoming the community.” #ScarboroughUECC

Yesterday our Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) celebrated all the babies born early at our hospitals over the past year 💜 It is such an honour to care for these little lives and so lovely to see them at home, thriving and getting so big! Around 53,000 babies are born prematurely each year in the UK - that's 1 in 22 births. Premature birth can have a huge health impact on both baby and parents, and our SCBU does a wonderful job of caring for both, all year round. #WorldPrematurityDay

"I needed to use Malton's Urgent Care Centre as I had an accident whilst visiting the area. From entering the unit to leaving, I was treated with courtesy and respect, firstly by the friendly receptionist and later by the very kind and reassuring doctor who tended to my injury. "Whilst waiting to be seen, I was also impressed by the receptionist on the outpatients desk, I heard her dealing with people on the phone, and also in person , who needed redirecting to other departments. Nothing was too much trouble. "My whole experience took less than an hour, from 10am to 11am approx. (I’m sure it might be longer in busy periods.) My injury is starting to heal, I am confident that all will be well thanks to the prompt and professional actions of the unit. "I am grateful to this unit and would like to thank everyone concerned."

After an incredible 47 years in nursing, including 25 years with the NHS, we're wishing Denise Berry, Clinical Educator in York Hospital's Endoscopy Unit a very happy retirement. From her early days in medical records to 17 impactful years in Endoscopy, Denise’s career has been defined by unwavering commitment, compassion, and care. She has been a pillar of support for patients, families, and colleagues alike, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness, patience, and excellence. Thank you, Denise, for your outstanding contributions. You will be deeply missed, and we wish you all the best in this exciting new chapter of your life. 💙

Bridlington Eye Clinc turns 10! 🎂 We’re celebrating a decade of Bridlington’s Eye Clinic, the East Coast’s main intravitreal injection site. Starting as a small clinic seeing 30 patients a week, it now treats 80 patients per day across three days and five consulting rooms. Consultant Ophthalmologist Fiona Bailey praised the team for their dedication: “They make a daunting treatment possible, and we couldn’t do it without them.” Here’s to the next 10 years of outstanding care! 🙌👏

👋 Hello, I'm Theresa Justine-Bisong, but I like to be called Tessy or Tess. I am a healthcare assistant in the emergency department at York Hospital. 🤔 Tell us about your role I am a healthcare worker who prides herself in administering bespoke care to patients who come into the unit. I also assist both nurses and doctors in carrying out some clinical tasks, all aimed at improving the health of the people I look after. ⏰ How long have you worked at the Trust, and why do you like it? Since May this year and I have loved it every step of the way. I have acquired a lot of clinical skills which have boosted my confidence in the role and propelled my desire for nursing. 💙 Are there any special moments you have experienced at work? Every day at work is a blessing for me especially because I am confident of the impact I make and the smile I put on the faces of both patients and my colleagues. No two days are the same but my passion for the job keeps me going and at the end of the day my gratitude is 100%. 🤩 Do you have a role model within the Trust, and why? I have been blessed to have a phenomenal team in the emergency department and everyone from the Matron to the healthcare assistants have been supportive. I couldn't have asked for a better team. #OneTeamOneTrust

Today, on Armistice Day, we were proud to pay our tributes with remembrance services at Selby, Scarborough, and York Hospital. Facilitated by our Veterans Network and Chaplaincy Team, the services were followed by a two-minute silence, held across the Trust, to give staff and patients an opportunity to reflect on the service and sacrifices made on our behalf.
