Catriona, Kate and our Young Voice Volunteer Tom had a really productive day yesterday in parliament discussing the Access and Assistance for All Campaign. Thanks to James Naish MP for the invite to discuss the project and all the great advice he shared to move the campaign forward. Thanks also to Lauren Edwards MP for her support with our next event in parliament on 11th December. We're excited to be welcomed back in a month, this time with more students who will share their experiences of assistive tech and explain why ensuring accessibility in Further Education colleges is so vital. We started our Get Set Progress Internship programme with no idea that within a few short years we would be welcoming our 100th Intern! Our internship provides blind and partially sighted people to gain skills and experience in the workplace and provides employers with fantastic individuals to work with. Want to learn more? He brings his extensive lived experience of neurodiversity and disability with a view of championing accessibility. As a Customer Engagement Intern Tom’s communication expertise and keen eye for detail are vital to his role. Client onboarding and happiness form a key part of his work, plus system management – turning his hand to many things from eLearning to HR Information Systems. Tom has a background in retail management and in administration, and he continues to volunteer with Mind to challenge stigma and discrimination around mental health.
