The European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF) is a venture capital fund that invests in growth companies that are active in the circular bioeconomy sector in Europe. The fund focuses on innovative companies that contribute to the sustainable use of renewable resources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, aiming to generate value for investors and society alike.

ECBF is a growth-stage venture capital fund established in Luxembourg dedicated to growth-stage investments within the European Circular Bioeconomy. We bring Europe's circular technologies to market, identifying the most promising investment targets, and syndicating with private and public investors to join financial rounds. Our mission is to provide access to finance to innovative solutions that enable the transitioning from a linear economy to a more sustainable circular one, having the European Investment Bank as a cornerstone investor.
 
Our targeted investment sectors include new technologies and business models in Agtech; blue economy; and bio-based chemicals, specialities and materials; with applications on Nutrition; packaging, personal care, construction, and textiles. Investment opportunities in circularity -i.e., conversion of biological resources and waste streams into value-added products- have a high priority. We believe that investing now in circular businesses and technologies will be beneficial to both a growing market segment and a cleaner future.

✔️You are passionate about venture capital, start-ups, innovative technologies, and the bioeconomy.
✔️Ideally, you already have experience working in a start-up, business development, consulting, or private equity as a working student or intern.
✔️Curiosity and continuous learning, as well as seeking advice from our experienced team members, will drive your personal and professional development.
✔️You are used to working independently and bringing your initiative to a team.

Watttron specializes in developing advanced heating technology for industrial applications, particularly in the field of plastic processing. The funding will be used to further develop Watttron's technology and expand its market presence. The company aims to revolutionize the plastic industry by offering more efficient and sustainable heating solutions, which could have significant implications for various sectors reliant on plastic processing. ♻️📦

On March 30th we celebrate the International Day of Zero Waste, and have to confront a stark reality: humanity generates between 2.1 billion and 2.3 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste annually. 👀

Shockingly, approximately 2.7 billion people lack access to proper waste collection services, with 2 billion residing in rural areas. The pervasive issue of waste pollution poses a grave threat to human well-being, economic stability, and exacerbates the triple planetary crisis of #climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Without immediate and decisive action, projections indicate that annual municipal solid waste generation could soar to a staggering 3.8 billion tonnes by the year 2050. ♻️🚮

On December 14, 2022, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) passed a resolution officially designating March 30 as the International Day of Zero Waste, with observance set to begin in 2023. This annual event encourages participation from Member States, UN organizations, civil society, the private sector, academia, youth, and various stakeholders. Its purpose is to promote awareness of national, subnational, regional, and local zero-waste efforts and their role in advancing sustainable development. 🌍
