I've held a place for the shipping industry in my heart from a young age. While an invisible industry to some, to many others and in reality it’s what makes the world go round, the backbone of the global supply chain, and the livelihood of so many (crew, charterers, operators, brokers, owners, builders…and their families).  Over the years, the industry has transformed and slowly (but surely) embraced innovation.  

Playing a small part in bringing about this change is an honor, but as people in the industry and beyond know, it's the collective efforts of everyone involved that will bring about true change. It's a collaboration.

This morning, I had the pleasure of delivering the keynote address for the Advocate Health Heart Institute's 17th annual Prevention to Cure Symposium, where I spoke on Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and How Digital Health Companies are Working to Close the Gap. 

Health disparities are all around us, and they’re deeply tied to SDOH: the conditions in which we are born, live and work that impact our quality of life and care. In fact, SDOH are estimated to account for as much as 80% of health outcomes in the U.S. So, how do we close these gaps? 

Helping to tackle meaningful challenges such as these is why I became an investor, and why we at TMV are honored to partner with companies like Millie, Fabric Health, Cityblock Health, Kindbody, Forta, Roon, Preveta and more that are working to create a more equitable healthcare system.
