gigahertz.ventures is a Dresden-based business angel syndicate. We provide smart capital to technology-based founders and start-ups. Smart capital to us means an effective combination of capital, experience mentoring and access to markets and our network. In addition, we are able to activate human resource capacities – on a flexible basis.

gigahertz.ventures angels are experienced entrepreneurs and managers with a successful track record in tech entrepreneurship. We accomplished the journey “from idea to global business development and tech leadership”, concluded by a successful DAX-30 exit. Our focus is on tech-entrepreneurship, while we are overall industry agnostic.

Our angels bring together personal deep-dive experiences in a variety of ecosystems and industries, such as industrial automation, IoT, climate technologies, food / consumer goods, life sciences, as well as education industries. Needless to mention, this entails a strong global and local network.

Oleksandr Syenkevych is the mayor of #Mykolaiv, #Ukraine. He was first elected in 2015 and reelected in 2020, making him the youngest mayor of a major urban center in the country. Before his political career, Syenkevych co-founded and served as the director of the Quadrologic IT company. In 2014, he founded the public organization "Holos Hromady" (Voice of the Community) to actively engage in Mykolaiv's civic life.
 
Ali Al-Hakim is co-founder and CTO of Boreal Light GmbH. Boreal Light is a Berlin-based company specializing in renewable energy solutions for water treatment facilities. The company designs and manufactures affordable solar water desalination systems for off-grid communities around the globe. In October 2023, Boreal Light completed the installation of the largest European solar-based desalination plant in Mykolaiv, Ukraine.

About the Speakers:

Before joining Libereco – Partnership for Human Rights in 2022, Ira Ganzhorn had extensive experience working in #humanitarian #aid and education related to #Eastern #Europe. Founded in 2009, Libereco – Partnership for Human Rights is an independent German-Swiss non-governmental organization dedicated to the protection of human rights in #Belarus and #Ukraine. Since 2014, Libereco has been providing humanitarian aid in #Ukraine along with local partners. Activities in this field include #medical care, clean #drinking #water, and #electricity.

Dr. Yatsyuk is Director at the Institute for Water Problems & Land Reclamaition at the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (https://iwpim.org.ua/) and focuses on the development of legislative and regulatory acts in the field of #water #management, improvement of #integrated #water #management based on the basin principle, #water #quality #monitoring, and scientific substantiation of measures to protect against water #pollution. Founded in 1929, the main tasks of his institute include development of technologies and equipment for #irrigation, #sewerage and #protection from harmful effects of water, and regulation and management of water resources.

Dr. Veronika Zhiteneva is an environmental engineer specializing in water and wastewater treatment and reuse. She has been working as a research scientist and project manager at the Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin since 2020, and since 2024, is the Group Lead of Water Treatment and Reuse.

Mr. Torsten Wöllert is Energy Counsellor with the EU Delegation in Kyiv. Before joining the EU Delegation in Kyiv in 2020, he led the Energy & Environment Team of the European Commission's Support Group for Ukraine in Brussels. He has worked extensively on energy and human security, low carbon technologies, and sustainable livelihood systems. He is currently involved in guiding EU support for Ukraine, including the Ukraine Facility.

About the Speakers:

Hanna Slobodyanyuk-Montavon founded the Mykolaiv Water Hub in 2021. She is also an Advisor to the Mayor of #Mykolaiv (Ukraine) on Reconstruction and Economic Development. Hanna has extensively worked with international development organizations, including GIZ and KfW.

Boris Greifeneder has extensive association experience and a distinctive network in politics and business. After four years as a research assistant to the spokesman for energy policy of the FDP parliamentary group in the Bundestag, Klaus Breil, he was responsible for strategy and policy in the capital office of VDMA e.V. from 2013, with a focus on foreign trade and tax policy. Before joining German Water Partnership e.V. (GWP) in the spring of 2023, Greifeneder was deputy managing director of the VDMA capital office.
