The inspiring session shone a light on the wider impact of Living Wage accreditation on the organisation and our communities, as well as hearing about the transformative effects of accreditation on the workplace and employees 💡 Bu Prifddinas-Ranbarth Caerdydd mewn digwyddiad Sefydliad Cyflog Byw ddoe fel Cyflogwr Cyflog Byw achrededig newydd. As part of Living Wage Week, Cardiff Capital Region attended a Living Wage Wales event to celebrate the real Living Wage in Wales. The event explored the role of the real Living Wage in shaping a more equal Welsh economy and society, as well as showcasing employers who have helped to develop the Living Wage in Wales. We heard from Eluned Morgan, First Minister of Wales, Cllr Huw Thomas , leader of Cardiff Council , and Cllr Andrew Morgan OBE, leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council , discuss how the commitment to a real Living Wage fosters inclusive economic growth throughout the Region. Today is the first day of Living Wage Week 2024! Cardiff Capital Region was excited to announce our Real Living Wage accreditation by Living Wage Wales earlier this year, signaling our commitment to ensuring fair wages within our organisation. The new rates for 24/25 were announced at the end of October, now calculated to be £12.60 per hour. We are proud to support the Real Living Wage as the only wage rate based on the real cost of living, supporting nearly half a million workers across the UK receive a pay rise. Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) has held its inaugural Regional Growth Board (RGB), a key Advisory Board of the South East Wales Corporate Joint Committee (CJC). The new board brings together key figures from the private sector and academia with local authority Leaders to inform regional economic strategy. The RGB is chaired by Kevin Gardiner (Global Investment Strategist, Rothschild & Co ) who has previously advised CCR as a Member of the Regional Economic Growth Partnership.
