Recently, we had the opportunity to welcome students from Leibniz Universität Hannover: A varied programme was on the agenda for the econometrics masters’ students. The group not only gave their own presentations, but also had the chance to listen to presenters from Hannover Re on a variety of reinsurance topics.

Silke Sehm, member of the Board, gave a keynote speech, while Kristof Herrmann, Tülin Dursun and Dr. Michael Will spoke about underwriting and risk management. Furthermore, Lisa Stierand and Sophie Röbbel answered students' questions about our various career opportunities.

What a wonderful opportunity to share knowledge and experience and learn from each other. Thanks to Corinna Evers and Kristina Gevecke for the organisation!

Most recently, Olaf was Managing Director Group Finance at Hannover Re. He joined Hannover Re in 1999 as Vice President Group Auditing and has previously held various leadership positions in Finance & Accounting. Since 2017 he has been serving as a non-executive member of the Board of Directors of Hannover ReTakaful, as Chairman of their Audit & Risk Committee and as Chairman of the Branch Steering Board in Bahrain.

We are delighted to announce that, with effect from 01 January 2024, Paul Carragher is the new CEO of Hannover Re Group Africa (the holding company comprising of Hannover Re South Africa Limited, Lireas Holdings (Pty) Ltd and Compass Insurance Company Limited).
 
Paul has already had a successful career at Hannover Re. He joined the Group in 2011 as the Managing Director of Compass Insurance Company South Africa, after being a Partner at a leading audit and consulting firm. In October 2020, Paul moved with his family to Toronto to take over as General Manager and Head of the Property & Casualty Business Group at the Hannover Rück SE Canadian Branch. Over the past few years, Paul's leadership and outstanding skills have enabled him to build a strong Canadian P&C team and franchise, making us the P&C market leader in Canada.
 
Besides his wealth of experience in the (re)insurance industry, Paul also holds an honours degree in Accounting Science and is a Chartered Accountant South Africa – CA (SA).

Cardiac biomarkers are proteins in blood that can indicate heart damage or heart disease. Not only are they predictive of cardiovascular events and mortality, but they can also assess all-cause mortality risk.

In freudiger Tradition setzen wir auch in diesem Jahr unsere Weihnachtswunschaktion fort, um die St. Joseph Kinder- und Jugendhilfe zu unterstützen. Die Einrichtung kümmert sich um Kinder und Jugendliche in der Region Hannover, die besondere Fürsorge und Unterstützung benötigen.

Mit dem Ziel, die Weihnachtszeit für die Kinder und Jugendlichen zu verschönern haben wir nachgefragt – welche Wünsche können unsere Mitarbeitenden der Hannover Rück-Gruppe und E+S Rückversicherung AG erfüllen?

Rund 100 Wunschzettel haben uns daraufhin erreicht, für die sich unsere Mitarbeitenden eintragen konnten. Anschließend wurden die Geschenke liebevoll ausgesucht und festlich verpackt. 

Gestern war es dann soweit, die Kinder und Jugendlichen erhielten ihre Geschenke. Wir sind sehr froh, dass wir auch in diesem Jahr wieder dazu beitragen konnten, den Beschenkten eine kleine Freude zu bereiten! 🎁💙
