The consumer shift away from "search" and toward "prompt" has consequences for brand discovery and truth. This is not a choice. It is an imperative.  What was once a page of links — the search result —  is now an influential conversation.

This project started over the weekend as a bit of a onboarding tutorial for the BrandRank.AI team but I had so much fun diving into the content that I thought I'd share it more broadly. This five-minute history of branding is intended to help us understand the FUTURE of branding, which is about to be transformed.  History has seen monumental inflection points shaping the future of branding:  the invention of the printing press, the arrival of radio, then TV, the development of brand management, and birth of the internet. We’re now at a new inflection point with the emergence of AI (especially #GenerativeAI) that will disrupt branding more than all these other interventions combined. AI will change the future of brands’ relationships with consumers — for better or for worse — and just like past generations, today’s brand builders must take this bold new technology in their hands to shape (with trust and transparency at the center) the future of branding.  I welcome feedback, and I won't be offended if you say I missed something obvious. (I'm listening. I'm learning.)  BTW, I'm  revisiting a "Museum of Branding" concept I developed w/others in 2010 before my Nestlé digital stint -- this time as client stimulation.

Recently, we've expanded our analytics to professional athletes, including pilots with four NBA players, and aim to target women’s sports as a growth area. We’re presently auditing the sustainability declarations of Olympic sponsors and suppliers to build a knowledge base of insights and best practices. 

According to Gartner, brands’ organic search traffic will decrease by 50% or more by 2028 as consumers embrace new answer engine services.  The habit change is real, and Meta.AI, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot are pushing the shift even harder in their ubiquitious Olympics advertising right now.

For the past four months we’ve been furiously building an early-to-market startup model (BrandRank.AI ) to help brands measure, protect, and grow trust through the power of AI-driven search and discovery. In essence, we’re monitoring (with “human in the loop” + a #SaaS platform) all the major #Generative #AI answer engines to pinpoint vulnerabilities and opportunities, identify key insights driving purchase behavior, and uncover category needs and opportunities to strengthen brand equity and customer loyalty. We put this to the test this morning with the leadership of JobsOhio. While we can't share the "secret sauce" of our analysis and recommendations, we're thankful for their insightful questions and suggestions.  Ohio's vibrant AI ecosystem - from forward-thinking universities and Intel Corporation's upcoming chip plant (the world largest) to innovative startups (Scheduler AI, Narratize, Cloverleaf, 80 Acres Farms, Pieces for Developers many others) and ecosystem events and players - makes it an ideal testing ground for in-depth analysis across all the LLM answer engines.
