Today marks a significant milestone for us at IPL as we warmly welcome Mauro Neves de Moraes as our new CEO & Managing Director, effective 22 January 2024.

Mauro has executive leadership experience in the mining and logistics sectors across multiple geographies. He most recently led BHP Mitsubishi Alliance’s (BMA) Queensland operations and prior to this ran BHP’s Escondida operations in Chile, the world’s largest copper mine.

“Mauro’s Australian and international mining, logistics and commercial experience is strongly aligned to our strategy as a global leader in explosives technology and services for the resources sector, and a leading supplier of fertilisers for Australia’s east coast agricultural sector,” IPL Chairman Greg Robinson said.

Our Interim CEO Paul Victor will resume his role as IPL's Chief Financial Officer upon Mauro’s commencement. Mr Robinson acknowledged Paul’s significant contribution and his focus on safely delivering results aligned with shareholder and stakeholder expectations.

We’re very pleased to announce that the sale of our Waggaman ammonia facility in the US has been successfully completed. Shareholders will receive up to $1billion in capital returns from the proceeds of the sale, subject to shareholder approval at our upcoming AGM on December 20. 
 
The sale completion also kick starts a 25-year ammonia supply agreement with CF Industries Holdings, ensuring cost-effective supply to our Dyno Nobel Americas business.

The sale of our Waggaman ammonia facility in the US reached a significant milestone today, with the expiration of the US regulatory review period.

This paves the way for the sale to CF Industries Holdings to be completed on December 1, 2023. 

As we announced earlier this week, shareholders will receive up to $1billion in capital returns from the proceeds of the sale. This is in addition to our previously announced $400m buyback. 

The sale will also kick start a 25-year ammonia supply agreement with CF Industries Holdings, ensuring cost-effective supply to our Dyno Nobel Americas business.

Today we announced our 2023 Full Year Results. 

We delivered second half underlying earnings growth and announced plans for significant capital returns to shareholders.

 “We end the period with significant momentum and start FY24 on the front foot. We are providing shareholders with significant capital returns and a business with a less volatile and stronger earnings profile, led by a focused and talented team,” Interim CEO Paul Victor said. 

We also announced today that Brian Kruger has stepped down as IPL Chairman due to personal reasons. The Board has appointed IPL non-executive director Greg Robinson to succeed Brian.

Global food security and sustainability are key issues for the fertiliser industry and this week our CEO Jeanne Johns shared her insights at the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) Annual Conference. 

On a panel looking at the challenges and opportunities for the industry, Jeanne explained the vital role fertilisers will play helping feed the world’s projected 9.7 billion population by 2050.

Congratulations to IFA for another successful event, fostering collaboration among industry leaders and helping make a positive impact on global food security and sustainability.
