Jaarlijks krijgen zo’n 10.000 Belgen een hartstilstand. In afwachting van de komst van gespecialiseerde medische hulp, kunnen getrainde burgers levens redden. In het kader van de viering van 600 jaar universiteit in Leuven, gaat het Citizen Science-project Van Omstaander tot Held van start. Het project wil onderzoeken wat burgers ervan weerhoudt om in te grijpen bij een noodgeval, en welke trainingen er nodig zijn om het nodige vertrouwen op te bouwen. 
Professor Jan De Spiegeleer (statistiek en risicobeheer) maakt deel uit van het team.
