The Faculty of Science offers study programmes of international excellence in all disciplines of the exact sciences. Its academic education is based on high-level knowledge-driven research and research-based initiatives for educational innovation. In addition to programmes at undergraduate, master's and doctoral level, the faculty offers initiatives where bachelors and masters of science can pursue lifelong learning in the exact sciences and its societal implementations.
The Faculty of Science feeds and objectifies the debates on current scientific issues with well-founded views and knowledge. 

KU Leuven Faculty of Science

Jaarlijks krijgen zo’n 10.000 Belgen een hartstilstand. In afwachting van de komst van gespecialiseerde medische hulp, kunnen getrainde burgers levens redden. In het kader van de viering van 600 jaar universiteit in Leuven, gaat het Citizen Science-project Van Omstaander tot Held van start. Het project wil onderzoeken wat burgers ervan weerhoudt om in te grijpen bij een noodgeval, en welke trainingen er nodig zijn om het nodige vertrouwen op te bouwen. 
Professor Jan De Spiegeleer (statistiek en risicobeheer) maakt deel uit van het team.
