Latin America’s growing venture capital ecosystem was all the talk in New York City for #LAVCAWEEK2023!

We are thrilled to have been a part of the insightful discussions, joining the IDB Fund Managers Meeting and the LAVCA Conference. Our Managing Partner at Endeavor Catalyst, Allen Taylor, was invited to be on one of the panels to talk about ‘Discipline Across Cycles: Early-Stage Investing in LatAm and Beyond.’

Here are some insights we captured during the event:

⚪️ VC-backed startups in Latin America doubled in 2.5 years as LATAM companies are cracking business models that can solve problems globally. (LAVCA)

⚪️ “Every company will be an AI company in the future.” Like "internet-first" was in the 2000s or like "mobile-first" was in the 10's.

⚪️ The market value of #LATAM tech companies is only 1.8% of the GDP as of Q2 2023, as opposed to 64% in the US and 11% in India. (Atlantico)

⚪️ The IPO window might open up within the next 18 months for emerging markets, with 10-20 growth-stage companies anticipated to be ready to go public in the next 3-5 years. This would flash money back into the ecosystem and unlock new pools of capital.

As the region continues to mature, Shu Nyatta, from Bicycle Capital, pointed out the importance of #Multipliers to foster the ecosystem. “If you get the big bubbles, the ecosystem unlocks.”
