Aclarity develops and provides water treatment systems that destroy PFAS contaminants on-site. The company's Octa System is designed to eliminate harmful chemicals from water without the need for off-site transportation.

Aclarity’s mission is to destroy PFAS forever. The current PFAS removal and disposal methods separate and concentrate PFAS, but do not sufficiently remove PFAS from our environment and therefore do not fully address the problem. The status quo management of PFAS is failing the public and cannot prevail. Our Aclarity electrochemical oxidation system destroys PFAS chemicals in water and liquid waste. We pass concentrated PFAS streams, like raw landfill leachate, through our system and destroy PFAS compounds to greater than 99%.

💡However, Nantucket has a unique advantage due to its closed system, allowing local authorities to tackle the issue more effectively without concerns of cross-contamination from neighboring towns. Experts at a recent event highlighted Nantucket's proactive measures, such as the fire department's use of gear with less PFAS and the well-testing program utilizing advanced methods to screen for these chemicals. 

Local leaders and organizations are focusing on providing resources and guidance to residents for water safety and PFAS regulation. Way to go!

**Research Reveals High PFAS Contamination in Food Supply Chains**

🔍 Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are linked to various adverse health outcomes, and food is a common source of exposure. However, dietary sources of PFAS among U.S. pregnant individuals have not been thoroughly explored. 

📊 In the New Hampshire Birth Cohort Study, we examined the associations of dietary factors during pregnancy. PFAS that were studied include PFHxS, PFOS, PFOA, PFNA, and PFDA. 

🍳 Findings revealed that higher intakes of fish/seafood, eggs, coffee, or white rice during pregnancy were associated with higher PFAS concentrations.

🤰 These insights underscore the need to consider dietary choices during pregnancy to mitigate PFAS exposure for both mothers and their babies.
