Distinguished Investigator Peter Walter will officially receive his BBVA Frontiers of Knowledge Award in Biology and Biomedicine at a ceremony on Thursday. The award recognizes Peter’s research on the unfolded protein response, a cellular quality-control system that is critical to understanding diseases that may result from cellular processes gone awry, such as cancer, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases.
