The Bel Foundation supports the Restos du Cœur of Hauts-de-Seine! 🌟 From October 16 to 30, the #BelFoundation organized a significant food drive at the Suresnes headquarters to benefit the Les Restos du Coeur of Hauts-de-Seine (92). Each year, 400 families from Rueil-Malmaison, Suresnes, and Puteaux receive aid from the Restos du Cœur of the 92. The food we collect will be directly distributed to these families, including 146 children aged from 0 to 3 years and 357 children aged from 4 to 18 years. 👧🏽👶🏼 This initiative aligns perfectly with the mission of the Bel Foundation: to support charities’ projects that aim to improve the nutrition of the most vulnerable children in France and around the world. 🌍 The President of the association, Murielle Dappe , marc lebourg , the former President Jacques Latil , along with other volunteers, visited our dedicated employees in Suresnes to highlight the importance of combating food insecurity, a cause close to Bel and its motto "For All. For Good". 💚 Additionally, the France Business Unit generously offered 1 ton of The Laughing Cow® bio to support this collect, further demonstrating our commitment to this cause. Supporting Our Community in difficult times In light of the ongoing situation in Lebanon, our company is committed to supporting our employees and the wider community. We are providing financial assistance to help our employees stock up on essentials and encouraging them to work from safe locations. Beyond this, we wanted to make a meaningful impact on those displaced because of the crisis. We organized a special breakfast event where we served Picon breakfast sandwiches, juice, and biscuits to the children in collaboration with the NGO OneLebanon Inc . More than 700 individuals came home with Picon and bread, ensuring they have some essentials to take home. 🌍 From Farm to Fork: Bel's Commitment to #Biodiversity As #COP16 Biodiversity kicks off in Cali, the release of #WWF 's latest Living Planet 2024 report is stark on the state of nature and urges us to take immediate and collective action ⏳ At Bel , we are aware that we have a dual relationship with #nature : a dependence and a responsibility. This is why we act from farm to fork around four major axes: measure, avoid, reduce, and restore 🌱. 1️⃣ Measure Our Impact: Since 2012, we've been working with WWF-France France to identify and reduce our environmental impacts. We're also one of the pioneering companies to join the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) , measuring our biodiversity footprint. 2️⃣ Avoid Deforestation and Natural Ecosystem Conversion: We're committed to zero deforestation in our supply chain by 2025, focusing on high-risk commodities like soy, palm oil, and paper/cardboard. 3️⃣ Reduce Pressures on Biodiversity: Our efforts include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, water use, land use change and pollution across our entire value chain from the farm to the product. 4️⃣ Restore Ecosystems through Regenerative Agriculture: We're developing regenerative agriculture pilot projects for dairy with Land O'Lakes, Inc. in the US and Earthworm Foundation in Azores (Portugal). For apples, we're collaborating with BIOSPHERES in France and understanding AG in the US. Exploring the Future of Alternative Proteins at SIAL 2024 Yesterday, at SIAL Paris , Delphine Chatelin alongside Antoine Baule and other experts shared insights on the future of alternative proteins. Environmental and nutritional challenges are crucial. To feed 10 billion people by 2050, an additional 1.9 billion hectares of land would be needed. Diversifying protein sources is therefore essential. Projections attribute a market share of 11% to alternative proteins by 2035, with 75% being plant-based proteins. 🌾 Collaboration and innovation are at the heart of this transformation. The dialogue between startups, academic world and large companies allows for better dissemination of innovation and complementarity between actors to structure a global movement. 🤝 The challenges and opportunities for the competitiveness of the French territory are numerous. It is crucial to act on capital resources, raw materials price & availability, and regulation to accelerate the sector. France has the means to be competitive, with very dynamic actors and strong support from the various financial support mechanisms for innovation (CIR, BPI…) At Bel , we have a mission: to provide access to healthier and more sustainable food for all through three territories: cheese, fruit, and plant-based.
