Bavarian Nordic A/S develops, manufactures, and commercializes life-saving vaccines. The company offers non-replicating smallpox and monkeypox vaccines under the IMVAMUNE, IMVANEX, and JYNNEOS names; rabies vaccine for human use under the Rabipur/RabAvert name; tick-borne encephalitis vaccine under the Encepur name; and Ebola vaccine under the MVABEA name. It is also developing MVA-BN (freeze-dried) that has completed Phase III clinical trials for the treatment of smallpox; MVA-BN RSV, which is in Phase III clinical trials for the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus; ABNCoV2 that has completed Phase II clinical trial for the treatment of SARS-CoV-2; and TAEK-VAC, which is in Phase I/II clinical trial for treatment of advanced HER2 and brachyury-expressing cancers. It has license and collaboration agreement with AdaptVac; and license agreements with National Cancer Institute and Public Health Service. It operates in the United States, Germany, Belgium, France, Canada, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Switzerland, and internationally. Bavarian Nordic A/S was incorporated in 1992 and is headquartered in Hellerup, Denmark.

Today, we announced the submission of a Marketing Authorization Application (MAA) to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) seeking approval of our vaccine candidate for immunization to prevent disease caused by #chikungunya virus infection in individuals 12 years of age and older. 

“The MAA marks our second major submission in just a few weeks as part of our efforts to launch the chikungunya vaccine next year in the U.S. and Europe. Chikungunya, like other mosquito-borne infectious diseases, represents an increasing public health threat due to factors such as climate-change, but also resulting from improved disease surveillance and diagnosis. Our vaccine candidate is designed for ease of use in individuals 12 years of age and older at risk of chikungunya virus and represents an important contribution to the development of preventative solutions against this debilitating disease,” said Paul Chaplin, President and CEO of Bavarian Nordic.

Sustainability is an integral part of our strategy and business and now we have also converted our undrawn credit facility into a sustainability-linked loan. This means the interest rate margin will adjust based on the success of our sustainability ambitions:

· Access to Medicine: Develop and execute a strategy to expand access to our vaccines.
Responsible Supply Program: Increase the number of key suppliers undergoing third-party audits on environmental, social, and governance parameters.
· Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared to our 2023 baseline.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Danish Minister for the Interior and Health, Sophie Løhde to our manufacturing facility in Denmark together with MEP Morten Løkkegaard and vice mayor of Helsingør Kommune, Mette Lene Jensen. 

The visit provided a great opportunity for us to highlight our company’s role on both a local and a global scale. Our CFO Henrik Juuel, CPO Anu Helena Kerns, and Head of Drug Substance Production Andrea Dahle-Morville met with the delegation to discuss vaccines as part of the critical infrastructure across borders and our contribution to recent EU initiatives such as HERA and rescEU, during and after the mpox outbreak. The meeting also highlighted our increased global presence and need for improving access to talents to help drive further growth and success for the Danish life-science industry.
