📢 600 Applications for One Position? Recruiting is Broken—Here’s How to Fix It I recently came across an eye-opening Medium article that perfectly sums up the state of recruiting in tech. The reality? A single project management role in a small start-up received over 600 applications! While this might sound like an indicator of demand, it’s also a clear sign that traditional recruiting methods are failing us. Here’s why the current system is broken and how we can fix it: 🔹 It’s a numbers game, not a talent game – With hundreds of applicants per role, even highly qualified candidates are often overlooked. 🔹 Luck over skill – The timing of your application shouldn’t be a factor in your chances of success, yet it often is. 🔹 Resumes can’t be trusted – With AI tailoring every resume to each job, it’s harder than ever to understand a candidate's true capabilities. Until we have a solution for verified resumes (hello, blockchain?), validated skills and psychometric assessments are essential. 🔹 Closed networks limit opportunities – Over-reliance on referrals locks out top talent who aren’t “in the loop.” It’s time to move beyond outdated, volume-driven processes.
