IMU Science Discovery Challenge - 28 September 2024 (Grand Finale) at IMU University We are glad to be part of the IMU Science University’s Science Discovery Challenge! Our Vice President of Manufacturing Jason Ng Chin Aik was excited to share insights on cultivated meat, the cell culturing process, and the incredible possibilities of what can be grown – from leather, collagen, and cheese to AB-negative blood, skincare products, CAR-T cells, skin, biofuels, and biopolymers. It was inspiring to see the students' enthusiasm at our station and their interest in cell culturing. The event highlighted just how much talent and creativity is emerging from the next generation, making us even more excited on our future collaborations with primary and secondary schools. 🥩 Exciting News from Cell AgriTech 🐠 🌏 Cell AgriTech's new Cell Culture Lab, Liquid Nitrogen Tank Room (Cell Bank), and Autoclave Room in Penang have now been officially certified as ISO 7 Cleanrooms and EU GMP Grade C. What makes this even more special? Our facility is designed with glass walls, allowing visitors a unique opportunity to see the fascinating process of cultivating cells that will eventually be harvested to become meat. Imagine standing on the other side of the glass and watching the future of food unfold before your eyes! But we’re not stopping there. Our next big leap is the launch of manufacturing plants in Singapore, projected for Q2 2025. These plant will take us closer to making sustainable, cultivated meat widely available, accelerating our journey toward creating a more resilient and ethical food system. Workshop on Proposal to MOSTI for Cultured Meat Feasibility Study - 14 August 2024 Today's workshop on the proposal to our Prime Minister for Cultured Meat Feasibility Study, with participation from team members across various ministries, government agencies, universities, and Cell AgriTech , marks a significant milestone for our country. We extend our gratitude to the Malaysian Government for its commitment to developing the plant industry ecosystem, embracing technological advancements, and exploring future food and sustainability solutions like cultured meat and cell-based foods. Comprehensive studies are essential to ensure that these innovations meet the highest standards of food quality and safety. While we are currently unable to share detailed information, I want to emphasize that the study will encompass a thorough literature review, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and expert validation with major stakeholders. This includes industrial players across the supply chain, from upstream sectors such as cultured media to downstream sectors like canned food companies, fast food chains, and restaurants. Therefore, I encourage those involved in the supply chain who are interested in investing in Malaysia once the policy is established, or who have already conducted relevant studies, to reach out to us. Industrial Visit For Globar AMbassadoR Participants - 11 August 2024 This program aims to educate future educators on AMR prevention, highlighting cultivated meat as a solution since it eliminates the need for antibiotics during production. This visit to Cell AgriTech demonstrates how cells are grown without antibiotics in sterile, enclosed bioreactors and clean rooms. The goal is to empower participants to share this knowledge with undergraduate lecturers and students from Malaysia public and private universities and Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, raising awareness about AMR and its alternatives. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) occurs when microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites evolve to withstand the effects of antimicrobial drugs. This makes previously effective treatments, such as antibiotics, less effective or even useless. AMR is projected to cause 10 million deaths annually by 2050, surpassing cancer as a leading cause of death and potentially costing the global economy up to $100 trillion. #Antimicrobialresistance #AMR #cultivatedmeat #culturedmeat #antibioticresistance

Lian earned her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Biotechnology from Universiti Malaysia Pahang and a Master’s degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia. She furthered her expertise at the Kyoto Institute of Technology, where she generated genetically modified silkworms for innovative biotechnological applications. Lian specializes in stem cell cultivation and bioprocessing, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. With over 20 years of dedication to vegetarianism, Lian is passionate about the positive impacts of biotechnology on the environment and society. 🌏 🌞

This initiative makes specialized training more accessible for participants from this region and supports regional development. Upcoming Training Sessions: Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) For Food Based on MS 1514:2022 Training Course (1 Day) Date: 3rd September 2024 Course details: GMP MS 1514 is a basic requirement for producing safe and suitable food for consumption. It is also a prerequisite programme to HACCP System for Food Safety. The MS 1514 standard outlines necessary hygiene and food safety conditions to be implemented in food manufacturing. This course will help you identity the new MS 1514:2022 requirement and it’s key changes, explain food safety risks from GMP, demonstrate knowledge of each GMP component and their impact on food safety and be able to review existing workplace GMPs. ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System (FSMS) Introduction Training Course (1 Day) Date: 17th September 2024 Overview: Learn how to embed continual improvement through an ISO 22000 FSMS. Identify the structure, key concepts, key terms, definitions, structure and requirements of an effective management system. Introduction to MS 1480:2019 Food Safety according to HACCP System (2 Days) Dates: 25th - 26th September 2024 Course details: MS 1480:2019 is a Malaysia food safety standard describes the requirements for food safety according to HACCP system to ensure the safety of foodstuffs during the entire food chain. This course will help you have an understanding of HACCP system requirements, identify the hazards in their food production chain with the use of a Hazard Analysis Worksheet, develop a HACCP plan based on the Critical Control Points Decision Tree. ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System Internal Auditor Training Course (2 Days) Dates: 16th - 17th October 2024 Overview: Understand the requirements of implementing ISO 22000:2018 within your organization and how to plan and perform effective internal audits. This training course is to instruct food safety auditors in the principles and practices specific to auditing for conformance with ISO 22000:2018, including planning and preparation of the audit, audit practices, and reporting audit findings.
