Today is the start of Edison International's 2024 #EdisonScholars surprise visits! 🚀

Jordan Arellano, from Centennial High School, Hannah Chu from Valencia High School, Eileen Lin from Eleanor Roosevelt High School and Carlos Valencia from Adolfo Camarillo High School were all named Edison Scholars and presented with $50,000 checks, an exciting internship opportunity at Southern California Edison (SCE) and the chance to shape the world through science, technology, engineering and math. One of the best parts of my job is about to kick off: Announcing the winners of the Edison Scholars Program.

Thirty diverse and deserving students will each receive a $50,000 college scholarship to study science, technology, engineering or math, also known as STEM, funded by Edison International shareholders.

My teammates and I will surprise the winning students in the coming weeks with the news that they have been selected as 2024 Edison Scholars. The surprises will take place across the Southern California Edison (SCE) service area.

Edison International and the Orange County Fire Authority teamed up to showcase induction cooktops and other clean energy appliances from our Foodservice Technology Center.

Induction cooking has its skeptics, particularly among chefs specializing in cultural cuisine. But those doubts are quickly fading.

“Induction has come a long way and has a lot more versatility, which is important in Asian households that traditionally cook with very high heat,” said council member Tammy Kim, city of Irvine. “Withstanding the high temperatures of wok cooking, making Korean BBQ or using hot pots is important, and this demonstration proved induction cooking can be used safely and successfully.”

Great news. 📢 Dan Hopper has been promoted to managing director of Regulatory Policy. Dan will be responsible for analyzing federal and state energy and decarbonization policies, pricing and rate design development, energy market design and integration. He will also direct case management for key regulatory filings.
 
Dan has been closely involved in numerous regulatory policy matters. Throughout his career, Dan has consistently demonstrated his commitment to teamwork and collaboration, working with teams across the company to guide the development of impactful analyses, strategies and filings.
