For my last segment, the theme was tiny foods with big benefits. (Sometimes, the smallest foods pack the biggest nutrition punch!) #ad I was on CHCH TV Morning Live sharing three nutrient-dense foods that are easy to add to your meals—no drastic changes required. I talked about lentils, chia seeds, and microgreens - three foods I eat regularly (hello nutrition + versatility!). I partnered up with GoodLeaf Farms for this segment; I love the fresh flavour of these super nutritious microgreens and the fact that they’re grown sustainably in Guelph (vertically and without pesticides), for fresh, flavourful greens that are available all year long. Sean brings a wealth of financial, supply chain, and operational experience amassed over a thirty-year career in the food industry. The first half of his career was spent with some of the world’s largest CPG organizations including Coca Cola, Molson Coors, Mars, and Maple Leaf Foods. The latter half of his career was focused on the restaurant industry as the CFO of The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro and Mary Brown’s Chicken and most recently as President of FB Burrito. Sean’s passion for food, building great teams, and driving efficiency will be invaluable as we scale our innovative way of farming, and drive value for shareholders, customers and consumers. We are equally excited to announce that Laurent Mareschal will take on the role of Vice President, Treasury & Investor Relations. In this role, Laurent will leverage his extensive banking and capital raising experience and relationships, strong financial expertise and deep understanding of our business to strengthen our engagement with investors, government entities, and other key stakeholders. GoodLeaf Farms is pleased to announce Andy O’Brien as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, replacing Barry Murchie, who is transitioning to a role on the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. O’Brien assumed the position Tuesday, July 2, 2024. He comes to GoodLeaf with a tremendous career in the food industry, most recently as CEO of M&M Food Market. Prior to this he led some of the most known consumer brands at General Mills, Campbells, Sunkist, MARS and Cara (as President of Kelsey’s and Montana’s). He is also on the Advisory Board for Northland Restaurant Properties (Moxies, Chop Steakhouse and Denny’s Canada), as well as the Board of Directors for Bakers Delight/COBS Canada. “We have set a strong foundation over the past half-decade getting GoodLeaf established with a national footprint to ensure food security and sovereignty for Canadians, and with his exceptional experience in the food and hospitality sector, Andy is going to unlock the growth that foundation can support,” says Mr. Murchie. Since opening its first indoor vertical farm in Guelph, Ont., in 2019, GoodLeaf has been in a significant expansion mode, adding farming facilities in Calgary and St-Hubert to establish itself as Canada’s only national supplier of domestic leafy greens. Mr. Murchie has been guiding that expansion as CEO of GoodLeaf for more than five years, and will continue to be a major contributor to the future growth of the business from a Board position. “GoodLeaf Farms presents an amazing opportunity to take a young company with roots in the tech sector and turn it into a strong consumer food brand,” says Mr. O’Brien. “GoodLeaf is poised to deliver fresh, high-quality leafy greens to Canadians from coast-to-coast.
