Pancake is a 7-month-old MN Domestic Shorthair just neutered yesterday. His procedure seemed to be routine, and he recovered well. However, his very concerned owners reported continued bleeding from his surgical site. 
 
On exam, Pancake has a moderate amount of blood on his scrotum and back legs. CBC results from the Element HT5 revealed mild anemia, about 10% lower than his pre-operative bloodwork.
 
Thankfully, his clinic utilizes in-house coagulation testing! The Element COAG+ combination PT/aPTT test revealed a prolonged aPTT result, which was concerning because it meant Pancake might have a clotting disorder.
 
Factor 8 reference laboratory testing revealed that Pancake had Hemophilia. Thanks to the in-house analyzers and coagulation testing on the Element COAG+, treatment was instituted immediately for Pancake to get him on the road to recovery!
