Today's focus is on this very special series of limited editions by Amani Lewis, presented at Art Basel #Miami #2023Edition . Amani's art focuses on sharing the complex stories of Baltimore's Black community. Their artistic process combines overlays of digitally manipulated photographs with vibrant layers of paint, pastel, glitter, and embroidery, crafting whimsical and magical images that challenge the often negative depictions of Blackness perpetuated in mainstream media. Back in 2020 When COVID hit and none of us really knew what to expect, ` #FAKE inspired many by stenciling this impactful image of a superheroe nurses, which became a symbol of all the care and primary workers who stood up in these uncertain times.
