The competition is open to early stage health-focused startups and consists of two educational Qualifiers and the Startup Prize Final Final Weekend.

You must attend one of the two Qualifiers to be eligible for the final event.

Congratulations to this year's Startup Prize: Focus on Health Grand Prize Winners! ✨ FDA Track: Emboa Medical (West Lafayette, IN) Founded by Angel Enriquez, Ph.D. , Emboa Medical is using nature-inspired design to develop a novel blood clot extraction device to address the prevalent issue of stroke, the second leading cause of death in the world. ✨ Non-FDA Track: AGED Diagnostics (Bethesda, MD) Founded by Rachel Zayas-Schwartz , AGED Diagnostics is applying genomic innovation to develop the most accurate blood test for liver diseases. These tests will help physicians keep patients in the monitoring program, reduce the financial burden for health insurers and improve patient outcomes through early detection and intervention. The winners were chosen from a group of 70 early-stage health companies from 23 states around the country. Not only geographically diverse, this year’s participating startup founders were also demographically diverse: with 45% of participating companies being female founded and 58% of participating companies having founders who identified as non-white. To be considered for the finals, each startup must attend at least one qualifying event to access mentorship and also must submit a formal application. The finalists are given one hour to present their company and ask questions from a panel of Investor Judges. This weekend, our five finalists come to Shreveport, Louisiana to participate in Startup Prize: Focus on Health 's 2024 Final Final event. Each startup receives an hour to present their companies and answer questions from a panel of Investor Judges. The grand prize winner for each track (FDA and nonFDA) will walk away with $10,000 cash, and every finalist has the potential to receive investment from each of the judges individually.
