LOHUM creates enhanced customer value through 3 primary technologies:

1) Lithium-ion battery manufacturing:  We design and manufacture advanced lithium-ion batteries through proprietary technology and fabrication techniques.

2) Battery reuse or 2nd life solutions for used batteries: We identify healthy batteries through our proprietary cell testing and then reuse those batteries in another application.

3) Battery material recycling to recover valuable materials upon end-of-life: For batteries that cannot be reused, we recycle them to recover value materials such as cobalt, lithium, nickel and graphite. If recycled properly, these materials can be used over and over again without any performance degradation.

Yesterday, LOHUM VP - Special Projects Pratyush Sinha was at the Material Recycling Association of India's conference on "Policy Perspective: Strengthening Circularity through Extended Producer Responsibility (#EPR)" held with the auspices of MoEF&CC, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), and Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India.

In an interactive presentation about challenges & opportunities in EPR and #BatteryCircularity, he expressed-

 "By 2030, Critical Materials will be an 800 billion dollar opportunity. There’s going to be a 10x increase in #Lithium consumption in the next decade. Recycling and Refurbishing will be crucial. 

To ensure true circularity, we need to handle the challenges of Traceability, Collection, and Audits/compliance. 

On the other hand, if we can overcome these challenges, one big opportunity awaits us. 

We can make India to be a global recycling hub. 

All we need is a global vision. "

Today, LOHUM Founder & CEO Rajat Verma was a key speaker at the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) - IESW Curtain Raiser Event on Enabling India’s Green Energy & Clean Mobility R&D Manufacturing & Adoption, at the IIC, New Delhi. 

He talked about the role of #TransitionMaterials #Refining and #Circularity in 'Driving India’s Advanced Battery Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Recycling Ecosystem'. 

Highlighting that out of Lithium, Nickel, Cobalt, Copper, Graphite, Aluminium, Phosphorous, and Manganese, practically all materials except Aluminium are still imported, largely from China and Africa, he said- 

"Once the material enters the country, it need not go out of the country, as it can be recycled infinitely, especially with technologies that have 98%-99% purity and yield. The main goal of the industry is how do we develop the technology to ensure that we can recover these materials in a sustainable manner."

Yesterday, we hosted a delegation from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business in an intensive educational tour of our #ClosedLoop #EnergyTransition Material production processes! 

Combined with interactive sessions, we accompanied them in examining #circularity and India's leapfrog #ClimateAction on the #Recycling front. The delegation included students, faculty, and an aspiring politician. 

They also took the #OpportuniTree to plant a tree with us, from a hand-picked selection of especially sustainable plants. We had a great time showing them around, as here were some of the most curious minds we've had the opportunity to host!

LOHUM hosted E-waste Recyclers and Policymakers from Ghana as part of the GIZ Ghana E-Waste Programme on a knowledge transfer study tour to India.

Our team of experts walked the visitors through our facilities, and Head of Recycling & Chemicals, Gazanfar Safvi (Safavi) along with Head of R&D Dr. Chidambaram Mandan led an interactive session on #BatteryRecycling with the participants.
 
We are thrilled to be a part of building south-south cooperation between #India and #Ghana in the nascent but exponential #LithiumBatteryRecycling industry!
