Low Carbon is proud to announce a major milestone in our portfolio of large-scale renewable energy projects.
 
We have reached financial close on a 385MW portfolio of solar and co-located battery projects in the UK. According to Chief Investment Officer at Low Carbon, Steve Mack, “The team is particularly excited to begin constructing 95 MW of co-located two-hour battery storage assets, a key enabling technology that will help accelerate the transition. The deployment of storage alongside our solar assets is an efficient use of limited grid capacity and will support the UK’s efforts to tackle climate change.”

Today we announce that Low Carbon are an Early Adopter of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) recommendations that recognise nature as a strategic risk management issue. In the future, Low Carbon will be making disclosures aligned with the TNFD Recommendations in our corporate reporting.
 
As an Early Adopter of TNFD we will help build momentum on nature-related issues and corporate reporting.

In 2017, Low Carbon partnered to install solar panels at the National Museum of Bermuda. Now with the museum celebrating 50 years, the solar installation is highlighted as one of its key milestones. Today, Low Carbon announces three projects that have connected 42MW of new solar capacity to the grid in the UK and the Netherlands. These projects mark our continued contribution towards the world’s move to 100% renewable energy.
 
The two Dutch projects are in the province of Utrecht, Wijkerbroek East is 10MW, and Wijkerbroek West is 9MW. They are the latest projects of more than 120MW of Dutch solar that is expected to come online by early 2024.
 
In the UK, St Clere’s Solar Farm in Essex will produce 23MW of clean energy and it is our second UK project to energise following the Fox Covert Solar Farm in Buckinghamshire announced in October.

Low Carbon and Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team are proud to announce our Portable Renewable Energy Blueprint. We have created a manual for all sports teams to integrate renewable energy into their operations.

We launch this ground-breaking solution as part of Energy Transition Day at COP28 UAE, as a way for sports teams to tread lightly on the planet.
 
The system that has been designed for Emirates GBR has successfully been in use at each event at this year’s SailGP season. The installation is made up of 38 solar panels and two micro wind turbines and it travels around the world with the team. It has taken their operations off-grid, while also producing enough energy to power other SailGP Teams. Across the first five events of SailGP Season 4 it has created 1,376kWh of clean energy, which is equivalent to removing 400kg/CO2.

By providing our new blueprint, we are encouraging other sports teams to integrate renewable energy into their operations and make a difference for the planet.

Emirates GBR Driver and CEO, Sir Ben Ainslie, said: “Our partnership with Low Carbon enabled us to create a unique mobile solar and wind installation that takes us off-grid at events. It has been a huge success and we decided to share all the learnings from creating and implementing this to other sports teams and industries to make it easy and simple for them to adopt renewable energy.”

Policy makers working together with UK businesses can help to drive the investment needed for the vital transition to a net zero economy. Climate change doesn’t wait for anyone, and we can’t afford to sit still.
