Ōmcare’s first product is called the Ōmcare Home Health Hub - a web-enabled platform that dispenses medication and provides two-way, audiovisual confirmation of medication adherence while facilitating social interaction and remote telehealth care. Ōmcare exists due to the rapidly aging population; high rate of medication nonadherence; a shortage of family and professional caregivers; continued increase in health care costs; consumer preference for in-home care and aging in place; changing reimbursement for home care services; and advancements remote monitoring and wearable technology.

On this Juneteenth, Ōmcare takes a moment to reflect on the profound significance of this day in American history. The day when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas with news that the Civil War had ended and enslaved people were now free...two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

As we commemorate this moment in American history, we must also confront the harsh reality that the legacy of slavery and systemic racism persists in our society today. The fight for true equality, justice, and freedom remains an ongoing struggle.

Being old is about to be reinvented.

Check this out.

~8 billion people live on this planet. In the next 3 decades, ~2 billion more will join them to bring the global population to ~10 billion.

And get this, 1 in every 5 people on the planet will be adults over the age of 60.

At the same time, the ratio of caregivers to senior citizens will drop from 7.2 in 2010 down to 3 to 1. 

Simply put, there won’t be enough young to care for the old. And that’s even before Elon sends our young to colonize space.

Way before that, by 2030, the silver economy - the economic system targeting the needs and wants of elderly consumers - is projected to reach a global value of $15 trillion.

The bottom line is that 1) the population grows immensely 2) there will be fewer young to care for the old, and 3) the old will be very wealthy.

This rise in demand for suitable products & services and the immense purchasing power of this segment will reinvent what it means to be old.

In the Age of Longevity - technology, health, therapeutics, nutrition, leisure, mobility, etc. - our experience is going to be very different.

Are their customers seeking independence? Self-actualization? Human connection? To leave a legacy behind them? To match their lifespan with their 'wealth span'? It's not as trivial as you might think.

Whether or not these AgeTech companies will succeed depends on whether or not they find the right questions. Without the right questions - the right value axes - they’re doomed.
