A Game at Twitch Two can Play • New Identity for Twitch by PORTO ROCHA and In-house — 🧑💼 ABOUT THE CLIENT Established in 2011, Twitch is a live streaming video platform for content spanning gaming, entertainment, music, sports, and more, with its biggest attraction being the ability to stream and watch people playing video games as well as esports tournaments, personal streams of individual players, gaming-related talk shows, and pretty much any other type of content that fits the need to stream whatever you are doing on your computer to reach an audience. Owned by Amazon since 2014, Twitch has 105 million average monthly visitors with 2.5 million on average watching at the same time on any given time — in 2023 alone, 1.3 TRILLION minutes of content were watched. Since 2015, the company has also held a semi-annual convention, TwitchCon, that can attract up to 30,000 attendees in its U.S. events and up to 14,000 in its European events. • 🦸 FROM PORTO ROCHA “Preserving Twitch’s strongest brand equities—wordmark, “Glitch” mascot, Roobert typeface, and signature Purple—we identified an opportunity to push the identity system to extremes, opening up a design spectrum from the super-simple to hyper-expressive. On one side, Twitch’s brand needed to get out of the way to let streamers take the spotlight.
