Red Digital Cinema is an American camera manufacturer specializing in digital cinematography. It was founded by Jim Jannard, who aimed to deliver a relatively affordable 4K digital cinema camera. The company has since developed various camera systems, including the flagship V-RAPTOR XL and V-RAPTOR 8K VV systems, as well as the KOMODO line with 6K S35 global shutter sensors.

RED Digital Cinema is a leading manufacturer of professional digital cameras and accessories. In 2006, RED began a revolution with the 4K RED ONE digital cinema camera. By 2008, RED had released the DSMC (Digital Stills and Motion Camera) system that allowed the same camera to be used on award-winning features, television, commercials, music videos, and magazine covers like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Today, RED cameras are being used on some of the most lauded movies and episodics, including award winners “Mank,” “Squid Game,” “Hacks,” “The Last Dance,” “The Queen’s Gambit,” and “Our Planet.” RED’s latest technology includes the highly advanced V-RAPTOR and V-RAPTOR XL system, the first cameras in the DSMC3 generation, both of which offer options for 8K VV or 8K S35 sensors, as well as the KOMODO 6K and now KOMODO-X– which feature global shutter sensors in shockingly small and versatile form factors. "At times during the racing sequences in “Ferrari,” the camera is fixed to the body of the car itself, stuck alongside as the vehicle zooms at extraordinary speeds... “we had to be very conscious of weight distribution and aerodynamics,” Messerschmidt said. Their choice for these shots was a RED KOMODO camera, “which is about the size of a Rubik’s Cube.” As Messerschmidt noted, “This would have been a very challenging film to make with a large, cumbersome motion picture camera.”
