The first leg of the challenge - climbing to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), then the second challenge, and time for Andy to face his fear of heights - Velocity (Zip World UK), the world’s fastest zip line, with speeds of up to 100mph through the Penryhn Quarry!

Andy has raised an incredible £15,300* (and still rising!) for Carers UK.

Phoenix Group, the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement business with 12 million customers, and Schroders, the global investment manager with a £74bn private market capability, today announce their agreement to form a new investment management business, Future Growth Capital.
 
Future Growth Capital will, subject to all regulatory approvals, support the objectives of the UK’s Mansion House Compact, and the new government’s aim to unlock institutional patient capital to flow to innovative, high growth businesses. It will unlock investment opportunities in private markets for millions of new pension savers to benefit from the diversification and investment return opportunities that unlisted assets can offer.

“For too long, pension savers in the UK have received lower returns than their counterparts in the P7 such as Australia and Canada, partly because the UK allocates much less capital to private market assets than other developed countries. By forming Future Growth Capital with Schroders, it will help us to deliver our goal of giving UK long-term savers a way to invest in a more diversified portfolio and to enjoy the potential higher returns of a broader range of assets. Future Growth Capital will be a long-term, patient capital vehicle, constructed to ensure that customer protection remains at its core by taking a blended approach to asset allocation.”

Statement on the Carers UK 'Carer’s Allowance overpayments' report from Claire Hawkins, Director of Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations at Phoenix Group and Executive Sponsor of Phoenix Group’s colleague Carers Network:

 “It is concerning to see that so many carers are being forced to quit their jobs to avoid being hit with penalties for breaching carer’s allowance rules, according to today’s report from Carers UK. With five million people in the UK – one in seven of the workforce – having to balance their caring responsibilities with paid work it is crucial they are properly supported to stay in the workforce*. It also makes economic sense: inadequate support for working carers costs UK businesses, with nearly half a million people (468,000) having given up work over the past two years because of caring, further exacerbating the UK’s economic inactivity numbers.

 “At Phoenix Group we introduced a policy of 10-days paid carer’s leave in 2020 and have seen the real value of this as we continue to actively recruit and retain people with caring responsibilities. We urge other businesses to follow suit, if they can, to offer paid carers leave where they can afford to and for the Government to legislate in future so that working carers are entitled to a minimum of 10-days statutory paid leave each year. For both carers and the cared for, Government and business must prioritise support for carers without delay.”
