Did you know that women are 10 times more likely to develop primary biliary cholangitis than men? 👀

Primary biliary cholangitis is a genetic, chronic, progressive, autoimmune liver disease that is characterized by the chronic inflammation and scarring of the bile ducts within the liver. 

There are several challenges when it comes to developing new drugs to treat the condition. Diagnostic delay is a major problem, and so is drug development. 💊

👩‍🔬 Researchers at French biopharmaceutical company Ipsen have developed a new class of medicines that target bile acid metabolism inflammation in primary biliary cholangitis. The company is looking to get the drug approved soon.
